"Can you believe that just happened?" Elle exclaimed as she and Abby mounted Nancy and Belle.
"No, I can't!" Abby exclaimed.
"OMG. We just met Chris freaking Daughtry!" Elle was in disbelief. Both her and Abby loved Chris Daughtry.
"We're gonna freak out aren't we?..." Abby asked, already knowing the answer.
"Yeah, we are," Elle laughed. "What was that?" She could have sworn she saw something behind the trees.
"What was what?" Asked Abby, confused. "There's nothing there."
"I sweat I saw something move behind the trees," Elle claimed. "Uh-oh," she said as soon as she saw the dog. Nancy hated dogs. "Dammit," she cursed when she felt the mare tense beneath the saddle. "No, no, woah Nancy, it's fine."
Abby could see the distress of the mare and the Elle was having a hard time keeping her calm; the dog was getting closer.
Suddenly, Nancy reared and Elle's foot slipped out of the stirrup, she slipped off Nancy's back and hit the ground with a thud. As soon as she hit the ground, she could hear a crack and felt pain shoot up her arm.
"Elle!" Abby exclaimed, jumping off Belle.
"I'm fine," Elle reassured her, "I think I did something to my arm... Great, no signal," she sighed as she checked her phone.
"Are you sure?" Abby asked, unconvinced. She check her own phone to see she had to signal either.
"Can you give me a leg up? It will take us hours to get back if we walk," said Elle.
Half an hour later, Abby and Elle got back to Abby's parents farm. Abby quickly untacked the horses while Elle called her parents and explained the situation and that they were going to go to the hospital to get her arm checked out.
"You ready?" Abby asked, joining Elle on the porch.
"Yeah, Mom and Dad said they're going to try get here as soon as they can," Elle said.
At the hospital, Elle and Abby found out that Elle fractured her arm, and that she should have a cast for 4 to 6 weeks, and no riding until the doctor gave her the all clear. They decided to go grab coffees in the café down the street from the hospital.
Just as they were walking into the café, they heard a high pitched voice.
"Daddy! Wait for me!"
"Okay, okay, I'm waiting! It's not my fault you're so slow!" The man teased his young daughter.
Abby and Elle looked at each other with wide eyes.
"It can't be.." Abby whispered, trailing off.
