We walked back to the others from the barn after our little... Scene. Daryl kept his arm around my shoulders as we passed the farm house and Shane and Ottis came out soon followed by Rick and Hershel. "We'll be back soon." Ottis told Patricia. I looked at Shane and then to rick.

"What's going on?" I asked. Rick came down the steps and over to us.

"Shane and Ottis are going to the school to get the shit we need to save Carl's life." Rick said. I looked at them all.

"Then I'm going to." I said. Shane stepped forward shaking his head and Daryl pulled me closer, "Yes I want to help."

"I don't fucking need you going!" Shane yelled, "It'll only get one of us killed with me worried about your ass as well." I sighed as I looked at Rick and Daryl only to find them in agreement with Shane.

"Fine." I said leaving the crowd and going to the tents. Daryl ran up to me and caught my arm spinning me around, "Daryl, don't I understand you don't want me going because Shane's going."

He slanted his eyes at me, "No, I just want you here with me, safe." He sighed, "And yea I was particularly thrilled that you volunteered to go anywhere with Shane."

"I didn't want to go with Shane, just I want to help.." I paused, "I want to pull my weight."

He scoffed, "And you honestly think you haven't been pulling your weight this entire time?" I looked down as he was kind of raising his voice, "Hell, sunshine, since you've been here you've been doing just as much as Rick, Shane and even me!"

"Why are you starting to yell?" I asked shyly. He looked at me and I could tell he hadn't realized he had began yelling until I said something.

"Uh I- I don't know." He said rubbing the back of his neck, "I guess it just irks me that you can't seem to see the shit you do is just as good as any man here." He hugged me, "Sorry I yelled."

"It's okay." I said. "I think I'm just going to turn in for a nap. He nodded as he let me go.

I woke up to someone slamming an old truck door. I hurried out of the tent and stumbled trying to clear my sleepy eyes. Shane was back... Alone. "Where's Ottis!" Patricia yelled coming out of the house. She stopped scanning for Ottis to appear.

"Ottis-." Shane whispered, "Ottis was swarmed, he- he basically saved my life by giving his up." Shane said. Shane's eyes flashed up to mine and then went to lori's. Something in Shane's eyes made my stomach churn. Hershel wasted no time at getting the part they needed to save Carl. Rick hesitated but he followed close behind. Lori and Maggie both hugged Patricia in hope of calming her down.

Shane looked at the ground for a while which to me was odd. He then just walked off into the dark morning. I looked at Daryl with a worried look on my face, "What?" Daryl asked. I shook my head. Why did I have a feeling Shane's story is a complete lie. I didn't believe him what so ever. I went to set down on the porch steps.

We all waited for what seemed like forever to hear any word -good or bad- on Carl's condition. When it was getting to be day light I was beginning to get sleepy but I managed to stay awake until breakfast was served.

Hershel was nice enough to allow us to eat some cereal of his. "Wheaties?" I asked, "I didn't think they were actually a thing, thought it was just an expression." I giggled as I walked up to Daryl and the rest of the group. Maggie had for some reason began hanging out with us more than being in the house with the rest of hers and Hershel's family.

"Eh that's because ya still a baby." Daryl said smirking at me as he leaned up against the tree I was leaning on. He ate a bite of the cereal as we shared a small giggle between ourselves.
