It's been three days here since the incident in the woods, Daryl hasn't let me out of his sight since. Carl is now almost back to normal with every day things like eating, running and of course worrying about Sophia which we have still had no luck. Daryl was sitting under a big oak tree a few yards away from camp making more arrows by hand. "Hey." I said walking up to him. He looked up and squinted because of the sun.
"Hey, beautiful." He said putting the arrows to the side and reaching up to take my hips. He guided me down to straddle his lap facing him. "Any news on if we get to stay?"
I shook my head and looked down, "No Hershel seems to want us out by the end of the week." I sighed bending over to lay my head on his shoulder, "Shane especially."
"Well hell, if we could just get rid of him that'd solve most all our problems." Daryl grumbled. I chuckled against his shoulder. "Nah, Rick wouldn't do that, he can't see what Shane is."
"No, I think he does," I paused, "Just Shane's his best friend, or well he's supposed to be, Rick just doesn't want to."
"Yea you're probably right." Daryl said. Dale whistled from the group for us to come back to the group. Daryl sighed as he pushed me up off his lap. "Let's go see what they want now." Daryl held my hand the whole way across the green yard. "Yea?" Daryl asked Dale.
"Glen has an announcement." Dale said as he gave Glen the floor. Glen shifted uncomfortably as everyone's eyes fell on him.
"Um." He said as he looked back at the house where Maggie was angrily standing on the porch, "The... The barns full of walkers." Everybody's head snapped up and our bodies stiffened all at once. Glen sighed, "Hershel believes that they are just sick... People."
"No, no fucking way." Shane said, "That's putting ourselves in danger if we don't go and clear that damn barn out."
"Oh hush you didn't even know about it until just now and that barns been secure enough to stay secret." Lori said.
"So you're saying just sit by while there's a barn full of walkers not even two hundred feet from where we sleep?" Shane asked.
"Lori is right, the barn isn't really a problem for us, it's been safe so far what makes you think it won't be tomorrow?" I said. Shane looked at me and raised his hands in seemingly defeat but the hatred and anger was still all over his face.
"I just don't think it's a good idea." Shane said. Maggie came up to Glen and slapped him in the face. "Oh shit." We all fell quiet as Glen recovered.
"Asshole! I asked you not to tell them!" She yelled. Glen went to say something but Maggie cut him off, "No save it obviously it doesn't matter because I thought I could trust you but I was wrong, so wrong." Rick tried to cut in to tell her we weren't going to do anything, "You call them walkers well, well I call the ones in that barn momma and bubba." She paused wiping tears away, "I know that there's a chance that they are gone forever but my father, my father believes they are sick and there could possibly be a cure... If he looses that hope then we might loose our father and Beth doesn't deserve that." Maggie looked at each of us and walked away.
Shane scoffed and walked away shaking his head, "Rick we need to stay here at all cost." Lori said with an urgency to her voice which perked my interest. Rick nodded and left the group.
"I'm sorry guys I just thought it'd be best for the group to know." Glen said. He hung his head and went to his tent. Daryl sighed making the first sound after hearing the news. I looked at him and smiled. I let go of his hand and followed Lori to her tent.
"Hey Lori." I said. She turned around really quick and tried to shield my view of her tiny table.
"Oh hey, Erin what's up." She asked. I gave her a quizzical look.
