Laura POV -
I woke up to the sound of my sister screaming at me. "LAURA! LAURA! WAKE UP, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY! GET UP!" She yelled as she grabbed my covers and yanked them away from me. I curled into a ball immediately, not wanting to get up. My sister, Vanessa, grabbed my sides and started to tickle me. I pulled her off me and hopped out of bed right when she was about to do it again. I look down to my sides, which were red from her fingers, and glared at her. She smiled at me with a cheeky smile, as we both burst into laughter, unable to stop.
As we gradually stopped laughing, we started to catch our breaths. I walk down the stairs to see a bunch of presents stacked up against the Christmas tree. I walked down to where my parents were... on their phones. Like always. I waited for about 10 minutes when my mom finally got off the phone. "Laura, why do you have to be so rude, and interrupt my call?! Just go to the Christmas tree and open up your presents already, and stay OUT of my business." my mom said as she slammed the door, and walked upstairs.
I walked over to the stack with my names on it. I sat down as my dad walks in with a video camera. "Sorry Laur, she's just busy right now. Now open up your presents!" Vanessa and I covered our faces red from embarrassment, and turned back to the camera, and stuck our tongues out at it. My sister was 19, and I was 17, and we were 3 years apart. I turned and picked up a gift to put in my lap, and Vanessa did the same thing. We started to rip the wrapping paper off, revealing the gifts. I got a new pair of ice-skates, and my sister got a new pair of white cheerleading sneakers! "Thank you!" we said together to the camera. We reached for various gifts with our names on them until they were all gone. I got a few new outfits, a new red MacBook Air, a new iPhone 6S+, a whole bunch of phone cases and a whole bunch of beautiful ice skating costumes!
My parents want me to be an ice skater, and I do too. Vanessa does the same, but with cheerleading. We do anything for our parents, and we get everything, except, sometimes, their love. I hugged my dad after my sister did. But after that, he said something that shocked me. "You guys will have to be out of the house tonight. Your mother and I are having a dinner party for our new clients and business partner." I was in shock, and so was my sister. "But it's Christmas, and we want to spend time with you! Why can't we come, and behave like proper ladies?" I asked not really knowing where I would go, since all my friends are out with their families. "Well... If you guys can find a suitable date for tonight, then yes. But, no running around like 4 and 5-year-olds. " he replied. I smiled, nodding my head and go upstairs to start thinking. Who would go out with me on such a short notice?
I put on my jacket, and a pair of sweats, and walk downstairs and out back. I stick my hands in my pocket and feel a piece of paper stuck at the bottom of the pocket. I pull it out and see the number of the guy I met at the coffee shop yesterday... Ross Lynch. I smiled and thought I'd give it a try. Let's see how this turns out...
