Ross POV -

I got up, and went to clean up, then drove to the coffee shop. I signed in and went to the register.

It was 4:00 pm when my best friend Trish came in and spotted me daydreaming...

"Who's the girl?" she asked, chuckling.

"How did you know I was thinking about a girl?"

"That's not your regular daydreaming face when you are just bored, it's not your 'can-i-leave-now' face, so it has to be your 'i-have-a-crush-on-a-girl' face."

"Hmm... I think it's kinda creepy you know I have so many daydreams, but if you really want to know, her name is Laura."

"Oooooohhhh! You're blushing!"

"Ugh. But we're just friends."

"You look sad about that, by the way, I can definitely tell you like her a LOT" she said, pointing down at me, laughing.

I look down, to me... bigger than usual...

"Uhh, I think 'like' is an understatement...  I was even acting myself around her!"

I turned around, not wanting to say more.

But guess who stood there.

Laura.

"How much did you hear?" I asked, afraid.

"All." she replied before she ran out of the shop to her car, speeding away as far as she could from the shop.

I tried to run after her, but I decided that it was no use, so I walked back inside, putting my head down on the register.

I sigh in frustration, before looking back up at Trish.

"You really like her, don't you?"

I nodded.

It was the longest day of my life, as I waited for the day to end.

~~

After what seemed like a billion years, the day finally ended.

I drove home to see Vanessa waiting on my front porch.

"Riker is inside" I mumble.

"What happened to Laura?" she asked.

"What?"

"She came home early today, crying. And when I went to go check on her, she wasn't in her room. She was in our music room, crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she just kept mumbling something like 'don't look down'"

"No, no, this is a misunderstanding! She went to the coffee shop, where I was telling my friend Trish how much I liked Laura, but Laura overheard everything I said. She just ran out the door and drove back home... And I think she was singing 'Don't Look Down' because it was a song we wrote together before we kissed..."

I was getting really emotional.

I didn't stop myself this time.

I sat down on the steps on the porch, and started crying.

"I didn't know... I'm really sorry..." Vanessa said, patting my back.

Rydel and Riker came out to see what the commotion was about, and I explained.

"Today at work, I was talking to Trish, about how much I really liked Laura. Last night, when I was at Laura's house, we were in her music room, singing this amazing song that she wrote. We almost kissed, but her mom interrupted us, and I haven't stopped thinking about her ever since."

"Wow"

I continued. "But when I turned around from Trish, Laura was standing right there, and she heard everything I said, so she drove home, and didn't stop crying. Vanessa told me that she's been continuously mumbling 'don't look down', which was the song we sang last night."

I stopped talking.

Rydel was grinning. Riker had sat down to me, and Vanessa was grinning with Rydel.

"MY LITTLE BROTHER IS GROWING UP!!!!! Now go and get your lady!"

I smiled, and went to the Marano's.
