COLE'S P.O.V

Date - March 25th
Remaining hours - 3

I was numb at first, but as I passed through the two cars that were trespassed, my heart started to pound in an alarming rate. It was getting hard to breathe and my thoughts were getting blurry.

Two girls dead

Both I don't even know of

All because of me

My body started twitching, making me limp slowly to the next car and fell face first onto the windshield, peering in and noticed the sudden, sharp pain in my throbbing head increasing. I saw all the people inside that one car, so happy, with such a good family. I was destined to ruin it for them.

I couldn't breathe, I was already slipping onto the ground, curled up in a ball as I tried to take in some air, suddenly feeling as if my chest was stepped on by someone made from metal. I felt cold. Cold all over.

I stood up suddenly, like a jack-in-the-box, and started racing through the road, bursting in cold sweat.

What the hell is happening to me?

I was panting heavily, exclaiming in small screams. I felt terror and panic.

Am I going crazy?

I stopped at one car, and peered inside. There was a girl in the driver's seat, with blonde hair and blue eyes that seemed just so perfect at the time.

What if I'm wrong again?

What if I kill her too?

What if 'The Man' will do something terrible to her if she is the one?

It will be all my fault.

My vision started to get disoriented, and my mind was running in loops.

I'm going crazy. I'm going crazy, my voice screamed in my head.

My heartbeat seem to blind my vision and thoughts, because the next thing I knew, I was kicking the windshield with my foot until it finally broke open, landing glass all over the girl, who looked quite blurry to me.

My breathing was strained, but I mustered up all my energy and carried her out, rushing through the masses of cars and vehicles.

Dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, they were all that rang in my head before I turned back into the stray road and placed the girl hastily onto the ground. I rushed to my open door and peered in, fumbling with the radio and feeling perspiration covering my face.

"She's here," I croaked out frantically, feeling my pulse throb through my Adam's apple. "I got her, she's here."

There was a bone aching silence that followed, and I had expected it to be a bit longer, but this ended up in such a wonderful laugh that I thought I was just imagining it.

"Are you okay Cole?" he asked through breaths, and my flaunted mind swung once more, anticipating the worst.

"Wh-what do you mean?" I stammered, feeling as if my head had been detached from its stump.

He burst into another fit of laughter, which made my heart cease the beating and my breath halt in passing. "Oh, Cole. Dear me, dear me."

I didn't know what to answer. I was sure that I got the girl, the girl with dirty blonde hair and startling blue eyes, but why was he laughing so hard?

"Look outside, and tell me that you got her," he challenged me. A heavy dread fell on me as I peered out and stared at the girl lying on the ground.

I staggered and fell.

She had very brown hair, wavy and long, with gray-green eyes that were big and dopey.

Not blonde.

Not blue-eyed.

Not even close.

I could hear 'The Man' laughing so hysterically from the distance, echoing out from my car. I felt cold, so cold.

She's going to die.

"H-h-how is t-this p-poss-sible? I swear she was blonde! with blue eyes!" I screamed desperately, looking at my radio in horror.

"Oh Mr. Devin, you are too human, so so human," he chimed, and if he was here, I could see him smile pitifully.

"You had a panic attack," he cooed out sinisterly, breaking my nerves into pieces.

"W-what?" I said confusedly, feeling bewildered.

"Oh, you don't know it, don't you?" he sneered. "Did you not feel anxious? Did you not feel as if you are suffocating? Did you not feel dizzy and lightheaded? Did you not spin out of control? Did you not think that you are going crazy?"

With every question he bombarded me with, I could feel the sad realization falling over me.

"Did you not feel panicked?" he snarled slowly.

I didn't answer, how could I answer? I made a mistake, and it's from my own panic that someone's going to die.

"You were seeing the girl as you wanted her to look like, that's why you thought she had blonde hair and blue eyes. I really must congratulate you on your obviously humiliating catch. I feel bad for her," he slurred.

And then a gun shot cackled the air, loud and clear, before it was over. I closed my eyes, fighting the urge to breakdown and cry.

"That's why I made this one quick," he announced, exhaling a heavy breath.

I could visualize him shaking his head, as if I wasn't guilty enough. "And now, I feel bad for you."

That perked me right up.

I stared at the radio in horror, dreading his next words.

"Tick tock, tick tock," he chimed gleefully, instantly bringing me speechless.

I raised my left hand slowly, feeling my body convulse in fear.

47 minutes

"You were in such a limbo before, Mr. Devin, that you didn't realize that time just flew by you like a breeze."

I stared at my watch, as if willing it to show me the right time left, but I knew that there was no glamour to hide this reality.

"I would be hurrying right now if I were you Mr. Devin, hurrying for the last chance you'll get to save your life," he said.

I got out of the car and sprinted towards the traffic, listening as the tick and tock of my watch counted down the last few minutes of my life.

Tick tock
