Looking at the house you knew it needed work and lots of it. The wooden porch really needed a new paint job and the door did too. It's white paint chipped at the sides, but other than that it looked okay just really old.

Stepping inside with a box in hand a musky odor hit you. The stench of dust and old papers tingled your nose and as you walked up the steps you sneezed. "Bless you!!" ,your mother called from the downstairs. "Thanks" you called back. Finally at the top of the stairs you put your box down and looked for a room to claim. Seeing as there were only three doors and another way up you decided to go further. Meeting a door that almost look freshly painted you opened it and discovered a large, spacious room with beautiful wooden walls and a tiny window at the other end that was almost like a tiny door even. Guessing this was the attic you stepped inside. The ceiling was at comfortable height not making it an awkward task to walk around the room. You liked it. You could make this room cozy and inviting, so you rushed back downstairs to find your parents unpacking in the kitchen and after a bit of talking you persuaded them to give the room to you. Running back to the moving truck you rushed your boxes up to your new room.

After adding the finishing touches to your new room you stood back to admire your work.
(a/n the picture is what the end with the window looks like) And then you plopped down on the cushions next to your window and just gaze at the busy streets below sighing. Suddenly tired from all your work you just stayed there instead of unpacking more. You began to think of why you even moved here, away from your old life. It was for a book store of sorts. Your parents had planned to open one since before you were born and worked hard to make that dream happen. They intended to call it "Books Unlimited". Of course it wasn't open just yet. Your parents bought the small shop a while ago but still needed to work on it. However it was going to open it's doors in just 2 weeks. You and your parents worked so hard on it that a small reporter noticed and did a short story on it to help. This created a small crowd that was excited for it. That crowd included mostly older folks who would check in on you and your and family and even a few teens and people closer to your age. However they never really talked much, just came bye to see if you opened up early.

After a while you decided to explore your new house. Traveling from your attic room you peek into the three rooms from earlier and find that one has a desk which would make it the office space you guess. The next is just a bathroom with a shower and such. The third room has grey walls and a large bed already stands in the center of the back wall, this would be your parents room. After seeing these three rooms you went downstairs to find your parents unpacking the living rooms items. "Hey, (y/n) did ya sleep well" ,your dad calls. "Yeah, it's really nice up there really!",you yell back as you enter the kitchen and and start searching for food. "That's great honey, I didn't think you would want an attic room", your mom says as she enters the kitchen with the same mission as you, "I think we got some granola bars over there in the pantry." she points over to a door in the corner of the room. Opening it you found a box full of granola bars, "I think we should go out tonight to eat" she tells you. With a mouth full of granola you retort, "Ya think mom?" she snaps her fingers in a sassy way with her hand on her hip and you giggle at this action, "oh and is there any more unexplored parts of the house left?" you ask. Your mother knowing your adventurous behavior directed you to the basement insisting no one had ventured down there yet.

Upon entering the basement was quite dark and you fumbled around looking for a light switch. At last your fingers hit something that wasn't wall. Flicking it upward the lights came on and to your disappointment the basement was almost entirely empty. Walking over to some shelves on another wall you find that this base was almost entirely empty. A tiny wooden box stood alone on a shelf. Grabbing it you are curious to what could be inside. And without any hesitation open it. Inside the velvet lined box, on a little pillow was a lone, entirely black brooch. Deciding it would be better to inspect this under better lights you leave the basement with the brooch carefully tucked away in the box and make your way to your room. Once you got there you closed the door and sat at your desk with this tiny box. Opening it and looking at the brooch again it feels almost as if it is calling you to it and you are about to attach it to your shirt when there is a knock on your door. Frantically you put the brooch back in it's tiny box and open the door. It's your dad, "We are going out to eat so you might want to change into some clean clothes. You got about an hour to clean up." and with that being said he closed the door. Looking down at your pants you discover that they are covered in dust and dirt, so you switch into some cleaner clothes and slip down into the kitchen where your mom is waiting for you.
