I was in my home town Tokyo for the first time in 2 years, I had moved to America because of family reasons, on my last high school year my dad had decided that I would leave for America to 'expand' my way of seeing the world, leaving behind my friends, and family, and even worst, my crush, of 3 years, since i got into high school, his name was Kaneki Ken, he was very handsome, reserved, and intelligent, but best of all he loved to read, just like me, we were good friends, all three of us, kaneki, Hide and myself.

We used to be inseparable, we went almost everywhere together, when I got back I didn't even think of visiting my parent's house, not after what my father did to me, so I went straight ahead to Hide's house in hopes to see Kaneki there

"Hide!" I said as I saw him coming toward the door of his apartment where I was waiting for him and Kaneki

"Okairi Nii-chan" (i called Hide Nii-chan since he was 2 months older than me, and I liked the way he freaked out about how cute I looked, though I hated to be called cute)

"oh!, (y/n) is that you?!" He looked surprised to see me,
"wow your still the same, though I am taller than you now, and your hair is now (f/c), not beige like I remember you"

"Hehe, the perks of living alone for 2 years, wait, something is off, where is kaneki-kun?, he is always with you"

"oh, he was acting odd this past few months, he isn't going to his classes, nor picking up his phone, its like he doesn't want to be found"

Hide looked pained and scared, his best friend of his entire life, was acting the total opposite of how he used to be, even I am scared, and I left him two years ago, though I still hope he will forgive me for leaving without telling him anything.

"why did you leave (y/n)?, we were worried." He looked at me with a look of despair and betrayal written all over his face,

"i had no say in the matter, my father told me hours, before my flight left, he had arranged for an apartment, a new phone and a car, job, and school for me in America" I said and I looked down, we were already inside his house, and on the living room,

I continued, "he took away any way of communication with you guys away from me, just so I would do what he wanted and join that campaign against Ghouls, though I don't like the idea of ghouls killing humans and roam free, I also believe that killing ghouls is wrong, so of course I didn't join it, he lost either way"

"oh so that's what happened, I hope kaneki let's you explain, he was very pissed at you for not telling him, and until a few days ago he still was"

When I heard that, I suddenly felt a need to cry, but I didn't, I kept talking about random things, but after some time I saw it was dark out and decided to leave, Hide asked to accompany me but I declined, and left the house, he watched me until I was out of sight.

I kept walking around town, which was almost empty dew to the recent killings spree of ghouls, I didn't fear them, I found them quite interesting creatures, some may say I'm crazy but I'm not, for some reason I feel safer in the light of night, and walking through darkened alleys, than walking in broad daylight in a crowded street.
I knew this town like the palm of my hand, so I knew how to get to my house through various alley ways,

I was walking down an alley and felt someone following me, I didn't bother to look, I wasn't scared, I was pissed since they didn't know how to keep quiet, I hated when my peace was interrupted, "if your gonna attack me, go right ahead, just note that if I don't make it back to my house safe and in one piece, my father will surely have the entire country on lock down, find you and make sure that you suffer 10th thousand times worst than what I do"
