Chapter 23- Awake

*Alex’s P.O.V*

I slowly opened my eyes and squinted, the sunlight shone brightly down on my face and I groaned. I slowly sat up to realise I wasn’t inside but out on nice green grass, I looked around at the familiar place and saw someone sitting near me, I looked at the person and gasped

“Kayleigh?” I whispered and saw the girl turn her head to face me.

“How are you A.A?” Kayleigh said with a huge smile on her face “Oh my god Kayleigh!” I yelled and tackled her in a massive hug “I’ve missed you so much!” I said and she laughed “I’ve missed you too” she replied and squeezed me the way she used to.

“Am I dead?” I asked as we sat down under the big tree “no, you have a choice” Kayleigh began and I sighed “why does there always have to be a choice” I complained causing her to laugh

“isn’t that the tree we always used to climb?” I questioned and Kayleigh nodded

“yeah it is” she smiled and I sighed again. I opened my mouth to speak when I heard a faint noise, it sounded like… no it can’t be….

Is that singing? Was that what I was hearing?

“C-can you hear that?” I asked and Kayleigh shook her head “hear what?” she asked “K.K that’s singing, I can hear singing” I said and stood up

“A.A listen to me, you can choose to stay if you really want too or you can go back” Kayleigh said standing up.

I looked at her “I don’t know, I have so much to tell you” I mumbled and she smiled

“the singing? It’s getting louder isn’t it?” she asked and I nodded, my eyes widened when I recognised the song, and that voice.

“Harry?” I whispered

‘I’ll keep my eyes wide open, I’ll keep my arms wide open

I looked in the direction of the singing and saw someone, I turned back to Kayleigh with a confused look “go on, you deserve a full life” she said “I’m gonna miss you so much” I said as I began to cry and hugged the girl standing in front of me

“tell Ki that I miss her, love you A.A” she whispered into my ear “love you too K.K” I sobbed and as I looked around the area began to fade and I let go of Kayleigh, she gave me a smile and a wave before walking off and soon she too was gone.

I heard the singing again, this time so much louder and I decided to walk towards wherever it was coming from, soon enough I was back into darkness.

I heard faint voices and struggled to open my eyes but when my senses began to work, my eyes slowly opened.

I looked around and saw a very stunned Harry and Liam looking back at me “NURSE!!!” Harry almost screamed and soon enough a nurse came running in, “she’s awake” Harry said and the nurse came over

“Okay, Alex, I’m going to need you to cough on my count okay” the lady said once a couple of other doctors or nurses came in

“1,2,3” she said and I did as I was told. As I coughed one of the others pulled out the uncomfortable tube and that was soon replaced with an oxygen mask.

“Welcome back baby” Harry said and kissed my forehead, I smiled and slowly removed the mask “how’s Kym and the others?” I asked before replacing the mask I saw Harry’s face drop and that worried me.

“Maybe you should get some rest” Harry said and turned to walk out “Harry what were you thinking?” I asked giving him a glare, he sighed and walked to the edge of the bed

“Alex… Kym is uhh, she, she had an accident, she’s in the next room” Harry half mumbled and Liam waved goodbye before disappearing out the door 

my eyes went wide “is she okay?” I asked and he looked at me “for now, she recovering but we don’t know when she will wake up” he explained and I nodded letting a tear fall from my eye. Harry walked over to me and sat down in the chair,

I reached for his hand and he gently squeezed mine “can you sing for me?” I asked and he smiled “of course” he said and began to sing ‘Little Things’ as I drifted off to sleep.
