"Isn't this exciting?" My dad said. He had been rambling for hours, I finally just gave up and stuffed my earplugs in. " I hope I finally get to learn German at this new school." Stated my super-smart-know-everything older sister, Monica. "Don't you already know the entire German, French, English, and Spanish language?" My older brother Matt asked. Matt was Mr.-OCD. Seriously, he goes crazy over every little thing. That's why I never let him in my room. Anyway Monica replied " Duh of course I know all of them but it's just so fascinating." Then she turned and put her head in her hands. Matt turned to me, "You excited to see our new house Mandi?" I just shrugged and looked away. Time to introduce me I guess, I'm Mandi Hughes. I'm 13 years old. I'm about 5'2 so average height. I have red hair with a splash of freckles on my face, green eyes, well you get the image. This is my first time moving. People consider me a jock. Yes, I love sports, yes I am good at them. But no, I'm not obsessed with them or anything, right? We'll anyway you've met my family. Except my mom and little sister Mac. My parents got divorced shortly after I turned 11. Mac got to stay with mom, while me, Matt, and Monica stayed with dad. You'd think that Mac was moms favorite right? Well actually I was moms favorite until I decided it was best to move in with dad. Originally, we all lived in Vancouver, Washington. My dad is the main Doctor there. He pulls in about 10.8 million a year. Which sounds like a lot, and it is, but he's never home. I think that's part of the reason mom and dad divorced. "We're here guys!" My dad suddenly said, interrupting my thoughts. "This house better be neat" said Matt. "I need a study room" said Monica. "I dibs the gym, and the courts in back." I hollered from the back seat. "Okay guys sure, but I need an office for my work." Replied dad. We all were in agreement. We pulled into the driveway, and I almost stopped breathing. The house was huge but looked like and old creepy mansion/castle.
"You kids approve?" My dad asked chuckling at our amazed faces. "OMG! Dad this house is incredible!!! Just my type, creepy and big, with a hint of Medieval." I said still in shock. "I think this will do, and it better stay clean." Matt said eyeing all of us. Dad rolled his eyes and let out a chuckle. "Um dad believe me this house is pretty cool, but hello talk about not being safe in here, I mean anyone could break in and steal something." Said Monica. "Oh Monica I was thinking of you when I went to buy it, it has the best security you can get, plenty of locks, and top-notch-voice-activated-plus-fingerprint recognition." Monica went into her thinking phase. "Well I suppose that will have to do." I must have been wearing my confused face because dad said "Mandi you alright." I sat for a moment then responded "Isn't this a little weird, voice-activated-plus-fingerprint-recognition for such an old, used house?" Dad scratched his head "Well you've got a point there." Then he let out a big sigh. "Shall we go in?" Dad asked. "Yes let's go!" I answered. "Okay, well everyone take your bags out of the trunk. "Okay dad." We all responded. I walked into the house and gasped!! A chandelier 2x the size of me hung in the entryway, lighting up everything within 30 feet.
