Chapter 5: Serious Talk

Clover's POV:

Ding. And that my friends is the sound of music. Finally the school bell rang signaling the end of the day aka freedom. I walked over to Aqua's locker. My last period was Language and hers was Science. A minute passed by and there was still no sign of her. I looked around confused wondering where she was. I turned around and saw her running towards me.
"Mm..rr" she started huffing and puffing.After she caught her breath she said " Mr. Caffrey wants to see us in his room ASAP." I looked confused but so did she. I swung my backpack over my shoulders and we started walking to math class. We walked in to see Mr. Caffery sitting on his desk, his back towards us, I couldn't see what he was holding. He must have heard us come in cause as soon as we entered he turned to face us a warming smile on his face. That made me relax a bit cause now I don't think we were getting into trouble. He put his phone down on is desk which he was looking at earlier. He motioned for us to stand in front of him.

"Hi, Mr. Caffery. I heard you wanted to talk to Aqua and I."

"Yes. It's about what happened today and I want you to take every thing I say very seriously. " He said as the smile faded away and was replaced by a serious look. I furrowed my eyebrows confused at his words. He continued. "I was walking out of the school today at lunch"

Oh so that's what he wanted to talk about.

"I saw what happened from the beginning even before you came. Mary was walking with a book in her hand. Her eyes glued to the page she was on. She accidentally bumped into Ashley, and well you saw what happened from there. I was about to run over and help Mary, but you showed up, and I was pretty confident in you. So I stood back and watched. If things had gotten out of control, then I would've stopped it, but I saw you were doing pretty well on your own." His voice was low and calm. He looked me in the eyes and continued.

" I want you to know that I have been teaching for many years, and I know what type of girl Ashley is. She will not just stop there. She will continue and do everything in her power to get what she wants. She will continue to tease you and bully you. I know you and Aqua are strong young women who can handle themselves, but if anything gets too extreme or you need to talk to someone, please come and talk to me. I like to build a relationship with my students, so if they are in any trouble or need someone to talk to, they can come to me. I try not be just a teacher, I want to be a helping friend."

The look in his eyes as he talked to me and Aqua showed me that he really cared.I nodded and I could fell Aqua do the same. I thought this was weird cause I have never heard about any teacher who does this type of stuff with their students, especially in high school. I nodded, again in agreement and looked at Mr. Caffery in the eyes. They seemed to sparkle as he held our gaze for a few seconds before clearing his throat and looking away.

"Okay girls." He said with more enthusiasm in his voice. " That is all. Have a nice evening!"

"Thank you Mr. Caffery, for everything" Aqua said with a smile as we both made our way out the door, out the school and on the streets walking home.

Mr. Caffery's POV :

I watched as my love and her best friend walked out of my class. I smiled at my self feeling pride as I knew that they believed every detail about my story, although don't get me wrong, I indeed saw what had happened. It made my blood boil when I heard the insult Ashley gave Clover, but that anger was quickly replaced by pride as I saw my love stand up not only for herself, but for Mary. After Ashley left with mud on her face the girls started talking. They were too quiet for me to hear, but I was sure they were introducing themselves. They helped Mary up. She looked around her and our eyes locked. Once she realized that I was there her eyes sparkled for just a second, before she remembered what I dragged her into. She gave me a death stare and turned her head towards Aqua and Clover. I didn't hear exactly what Mary said to them, but I'm pretty sure it was something along the lines of 'I gotta go' cause Mary then sprinted to the door of the school leaving Clover and Aqua with confused faces. Knowing Mary it was no joke that she could run fast. And she disappeared into the doors of the school before one of them could even blink.

I looked out the window thinking about what I said to the girls. I don't care about anyone at this school except Clover and Mary. Even Aqua I don't really care about her, the only reason I seem like I care is because she is best friends with the girl I love. I was also partially lying about how I know what type of girl Ashley was. I said I have been teaching for a long time- hell no.But I wan't lying when I said I knew what type of girl Ashley was. Do remember that I am 19 not 29 and I have had a lot of experience. I see Aqua and Clover exiting the school now as they take the sidewalk to walk home. "Your almost mine. Your almost mine" I say out loud with a low and calm voice. I can't wait till the final step of the plan.
