Drakar wondered aimlessly through the dark corridors of the palace. A small flame danced on the tip of his finger.
"Isn't it a bit late for a stroll?" A soft female voice came form the end of the corridor.
"Flames burn brighter in the dark."
"The nightmares won't leave you alone ,will they?" Resa stepped out of the shadows and fell into step with Drakar.
"I've been thinking about Queen Adira's favour."
"Are you going to accept it."
"I might just do that. Do you know what Zack decided?"
"He's going and because both you decided to go I'm going with."
"No, you need to stay here with your sister, besides having one woman aboard a ship will bring enough bad luck and distraction to the crew."* * *
"Your Highness the messenger came back with news of the team sent out to retrieve Miss Camilla from the Inn between borders."
"Well what happened?" Queen Adira stopped pacing the room and waited in anticipation for the news.
"The team never made it to the Inn between borders and they're currently missing."
"How far along are the preparations on the Clouthea for my daughter's departure?"
"About halfway your Highness."
"Tell them they must pick up the pace she must leave within the week."
The marriage must happen quickly and without delay, Queen Adira needed alliance with King Casima if she ever wished her kingdom to survive an attack form Prince Deimos's entire army at the lead of Balthazar.* * *
It took a lot of pleading to convince Queen Adira that Resa needed to accompany Princes Sybil as well as Drakar and Zack on their voyage to Casima. The Queen agreed that the Princes would need some female company on the long trip, but call her selfish Resa mostly wanted to go to keep an eye on Drakar and mostly Zack. To know first hand if they were save, not sit around and wait for news and hope that they were still okay.
Resa stood on the dock alongside Zack and Drakar, blending in as a boy in her loose white shirt, brown breaches and knee high boots.
All three had said their goodbyes the night before at the castle and stood watching Queen Adira hugging her daughter tightly as the last luggage was carried to her on board chambers.
Princes Sybil was escorted to her chambers by Resa and Zack. Drakar stayed behind and turned to the Queen.
''Take care of my baby. Not only for the sake of Pelgrima but for me. I've put a large burden on her sholders. Hopefully Resa's presence would help ease some for the time being.''
''Will do your Highness. She is a smart and tough kid she can handle it.'' Drakar whispered.* * *
Captain Ced stood up from the chair behind his desk and paced the room like a trapped animal.
He didn't want to go near the waters of Pelgrima before the looming war was over, but rumour was that the Clouthea would be carrying a valuable cargo from Aevan to Casima. They were still close enough to sail back and trace the route, but it was dangerous to raid a ship of a Kingdom on the edge of war. Captain Ced had a decision to make.
* * *
Princes Sybil sat in the large bed in her new on board chambers and felt a lump form in her throat.
''Weigh acre and set sail due North-East!" Captain Ulric's orders drifted down to her. There was no turning back now. She was off on a voyage that would drastically change her life. Her marriage to Prince Cayman was on the horizon.
Princes Sybil grabbed at her last hope, clutched her blue water crystal in her palm, closed her eyes and with her whole heart wished for another outcome.Authors note:
