Yes sex ed may be awkward, but it is better to go through the awkwardness of learning it and know what your getting to,than spare yourself the awkwardness and end up with an STD. I don't think anyone wants to go to school and sit around with your peers and learn about sex, but the payoff is good in the long run. If you were never taught about sex you wouldn't know what to do or what the risks are of sex when it came time to use those skills. Personally I think this post said it best.
