If you read not_relevant's book, she mentioned how mermaids populate their race. I thought of it myself as soon as I finish reading the sentence. I know, some of you will say "But TheRogueRavenclaw, mermaids don't exist today!" Yeah, they might not exist today but I have done some research and made a theory being the smartass I am to how they do not exist today.
Long ago mermaids lived in little underwater communities. There were lots of mermaids that time but when some of the mermaids died, they became less in population . They tried to make more of themselves but since they have tails they can't make any mermaid children. After a few hundred years, the mermaid race became non-existent and no human has seen a mermaid ever since.
