Take Off

My alarm clock woke me at 5am and I rolled over in bed. It didn't occur to me at the time that there was something wrong with that. I walked into my bathroom and turned on my shower. That's when it occurred to me that I woke up alone. I frowned bitterly. After getting used to waking up with her body next to mine, it was weird that she wasn't there. I shrugged it off and got into the shower anyway. I'll see her in class. I spent most of my shower in memories of last night. It's not the best way to show I love her but it's a start. With today being Valentine's Day and me having to work, I wonder if I'll have time to take Cara on a proper Valentine's date. I heard my text notification going off from my bedroom and made a mental note to check it once I got out.

I washed my body one more time and rinsed off before getting out of the shower. I dried my hair with the bath towel hanging on the rack, walking shamelessly naked to my closet. What's the harm in air-drying my dick and balls? Instead of wearing a full suit today I decided on a white Polo and black slacks. I wasn't completely dry so I patted off the rest of the water with my towel before grabbing a random pair of briefs to put on.

Cara

When I woke up at around 4 this morning under Chris I honestly didn't want to leave. He really has a way of keeping me around. Against my own wants, I got up and showered quickly then pulled on some sweat pants and a tank top that were in my overnight bag. I gave him one last gentle peck on his cheek before I left him to go get in my own bed. At around 7 I woke up and got dressed for school. I knew good and well that I didn't want to go but Chris did tell me I can't skip his class again. If I'm going to attend one I may as well attend them all, right? My mom stopped me in the hallway.

"How was your weekend?"
"It was good, mom. Yours?"
"Fine. Being here all alone and all..."
"No don't do that. You're not about to guilt trip me for spending a weekend away."
"I just thought you loved your mother more than that..."
"Mom. I spent an entire 21 years with you. It's not a crime to spend one weekend with someone else."
"I know..." she sighed. "I miss my baby. You're all grown up now and there's nothing I can do about it..."
"Aw, mommy. I'll always be your only baby. But I'm 22 now and living on my own. You can't run things in my house like you've been trying to do."
"Yeah I know. You're an adult and I'm in your house now."
"I love you though, mommy."
"I love you too."

I gave my mother a big hug and headed out the door for school. The second I started my car I immediately turned it back off and went back inside.

"I'm gonna take today off school. We're gonna have a mommy and me day."

My mother's face lit up as she rose from my sofa. She nodded and went to go change her clothes. I went to change as well, deciding that jeans and a hoodie weren't the proper attire.

After tugging on a long-sleeved red crop top and a mid-rise floor length white skirt with a slit up the right leg I met my mother in the hallway. She was wearing a red mid-calf dress that flared at the waist and some pearl accessories. I smiled at my mom.

"You really look like grandma when she was young."
"You look like your father's people." She laughed.
"I know. Let's go get breakfast."

We both left the house, locking up behind us, and got into my car. I sent a quick text to Chris so he could tell the other professors I wasn't coming.

Hey babe. Not coming to my
classes today. Spending it with
my mom 💕

I told you no more skipping.
I'll accept it this time because
it's your mom. I'll grab any
homework you might get.

Thanks baby, you're a life saver!
I love you so much!

I put my phone in my cup holder and took off towards a restaurant.

"No, you should give Chris a chance. He's not a bad guy."
"I don't have an issue with him as a person but as your mother I don't want you dating, ever."
"You sound a little crazy."
"Yes, but I am. And so are you."
"I will never admit that."
"You just did, sweetheart."

I giggled alone with my mother as we walked through the mall plaza. I missed hanging out with my mom all day like we used to when I was a teenager. And judging by the smile plastered on her face and the glow she's giving off, she missed it too. As I checked my phone for the time I noticed a few texts from an unknown number.

Cara I'm sorry

I made some mistakes and
I'm sorry

Do you even know who
his is?

Answer me!

Fine. I'll find you.

The messages were blue so whoever was sending them had an iPhone. I left them on read anyway. Turning my attention back to my mother, who was headed into Bath&Body Works, I followed closely behind her. The whole day shopping with my mom those texts gnawed at the back of my mind. Who in the hell could have sent them? I tried so hard to push the thought out of my head but I honestly couldn't.

"What do you think of this one?" My mom asked, holding a strip of paper spritzed with perfume to my nose. I wasn't mentally present enough to actually catch a scent.

"Smells pretty..." I remarked half-heartedly.
"That's what I was thinking. What's bothering you?"
"Nothing..."
"You're lying. I can see it all over your face. What is it?"
"It's really nothing, mommy. I'm fine."
"You know how I know you're not fine?"
"Hm?
"That was water on that paper."
"Mom!"
"What is bothering you?"
"I just...I got some weird text messages. That's all. Nothing threatening or anything."
"And you don't know who they're from?"
"Nope."
"You should block the number."
"I should. Are you buying that?"
"Of course I am."

After we checked out at B&B we stopped by GameStop so I could pick up something new to play in my free time. I settled on a copy of Bayonetta 2 and let the pushy cashier check me out. The car ride home was spent singing along to Destiny's Child. When we finally pulled up to my house there was a car in the shared parking lot that I didn't recognize. I figured maybe the neighbor got a new boyfriend, though I doubted it slightly considering his past relationships. I stepped out of my car after my mother and handed her my house key. She headed up to unlock the door while I grabbed the bags from the back seat. I bumped my door closed with my hip due to my hands being full of bags and mommy rushed back down to take a few on her own. I heard another car door opening but didn't pay it too much attention until I heard my name being called by a familiar voice. I stopped in my tracks, trying my damnedest not to drop the bags I was carrying. My body trembled slightly in fear. Not of the person, of the fact that they knew where I lived and that they're standing in my driveway. My mother's face turned cold as stone when she laid eyes on the person. I turned slowly, looking between the two of them.

"Gabrielle..." He spoke first.
"Michael." She replied sharply, glaring daggers into him.
