Unknown
No reason...she was just
all hugged up with some guy.
They seemed real close

Unknown
Hm...I have pictures if you
want them

Pictures?

Unknown
Oh yeah. And I'll give them
to you in person. But that's the
only way you'll get them

Where do you wanna meet

Unknown
I'll send you the address

Don't try any bullshit with me
Robyn I swear to god.

Unknown
No bullshit. Just business.

Whatever.

I plugged my phone up and left it on my nightstand.

"Baby, he's gone..."
"Don't be so upset. You have his number. You can FaceTime him. But only when I'm around. I'on play that FaceTiming niggas alone bullshit."
"Chris I'm serious...!"
"I'm serious as fuck. Anyway, it's okay, ma. If he's really your best friend he'll come see you again."

She was really upset about Jacob leaving the country. I'm not mad, that's one less problem for me. After she told me their history and what he had said while they were together, there was no doubt in my mind that he has been in love with her for years. She's the only one who hasn't put it together. I'm kind of glad. If she reciprocated any feelings for him I don't know how I would handle having to compete for her affection. I love her being clueless to those things. If she seems him as no more than platonic, that means I get to receive her love for just a little bit longer. Still, I had to ask the question.

"How haven't you figured out that he's in love with you?"
"Is he...?" She sounded genuinely confused.
"Yes, baby. He's given you all the signs. I refuse to believe you didn't know."
"I don't notice other men, Chris. I only have eyes for you. I only notice affection from you. Anything from any other man I just see as being nice. And I don't see Jacob that way so it was never a possibility in my mind. Is that so bad...?"
"No baby, you're just blindly in love. But that's okay because I don't notice most girls making passes at me either unless they're obvious and pushy."
"Like that little hoe Mariana."
"I know you're more mature than name-calling, Cara."

She shrugged and we laid in silence for a few moments, just listening to each other breathe.

"Christopher..."
"What's wrong?"
"Make me feel better..."

She looked up at me, her eyes pleading for something. I sighed and pulled her close to me. She clung to my shirt.

"Gimme some."

She hesitated but brought her face up to mine and kissed me softly. I pecked her again, but this time I lingered on her lips a little longer. She wrapped her arms around my neck. I allowed my hand to run up her thigh, pulling it to my waist. The way she was reacting told me this wasn't the right way to go about cheering her up. I pulled away.
