River laughed at the story Destiny was telling. This wasn't the first time they had met under this bridge by the river, and Destiny was telling River about something that happened at school recently. River hasn't had something like this happen, since they've always been homeschooled.
"So," River asked, "how did this even happen?" Destiny looked away quickly, blushing. "I-I don't know," she stammered, but River could tell she was lying. "Why aren't you telling me?" They asked, and Destiny replied, "it's nothing. Don't worry about it." River decided to drop it. "Well, I have to get home," they said. "See you tomorrow." The two stood up and gathered their stuff, then hugged and walked in opposite directions.
River pushed open the door of their house. They were greeted with a hug from their friend that they'd lived with since getting kicked out of their own house. "Hi, Adriana!" Adriana let go of River and said, "I got all of the answers to Mr. Cleveland's homework while you were gone. He really needs to protect the online key better." River nodded. "Mind if I copy them down tonight?" They asked. Adriana nodded. "Don't I always?" She replied with a laugh. River smiled. "Of course."

A week passed. River and Destiny met up several times during that week. Today was one of those days.
"You live in East Grand Rapids? Do you have a lot of money?" River asked, astonished. Destiny was a bit red. "Yeah, I guess. I'm the only trans person I know around there, too." River was surprised. It was a bit obvious if they thought about it, but they hadn't thought about it. "I had no idea you were trans, to be honest," they said. Destiny smiled a bit. "I'm not that open about it, to be honest..." She said. "I figured that of all people, you'd be the most accepting, considering your gender identity." River nodded in understanding. They weren't exactly secretive about the fact that they were agender.
"By the way, if you're not out to your parents, where do you get your feminine attire?" River inquired. It was something they'd been wondering about for a while, but had never thought to ask. "I get quite a bit of money from my grandparents, and the Pride Center has a closet full of free clothes." Destiny answered. She looked at River, and asked, "Have you ever been to the Pride Center?" River shook their head. "I've heard of it, but never been." Destiny nodded in understanding. "They also give out condoms," she said, winking. River snorted. "Have I told you about the time I filled one with water and threw it at Adriana?" River asked, and Destiny burst out laughing. "What happened?" Destiny asked, still laughing. "So I found one laying around in Walmart, so I took it home and opened it in the bathroom -- and it was super heavily lubricated -- and so I filled it with water from the sink then Adriana walked in so I THREW IT AT HER FACE and it fucking exploded!" River exclaimed, and Destiny laughed harder. "How did she react?" Destiny asked. "She stood there for a moment, not saying anything, and then pushed me out of the bathroom so that she can get all the lube off!" The two laughed together.
The rest of the day was spent telling each other stories. Eventually, the sun started going down. It was then River and Destiny hugged and said goodbye. Destiny went in one direction to catch the bus home, and River went onto the train tracks to cross the river and go back home.
