ROBIN
I pace around the front of the launch pad on the roof of the Titan's Tower. The sunrise was a beautiful array of colors, each giving a stronger light onto the city. A warm sunrise calmed me down, always has and always will.
Ever since the death of my parents, I haven't been able to get a full night's rest. For years I would pace during the wee hours of the morning. And for years, knowing Slade is still alive, made me less prone to sleep.
I sit myself on the edge of the building, feeling no threat of falling off the fifty story building. I lean onto my elbows, watching the sun rise past the far mountains.
I pull out the file on my communicator about the girl. Her origin of birth is unknown. Her mother is deceased, yet no information on her father. She has telepathy, telekinesis and psionic abilities. She was raised in a temple with monks before Slade burned it down.
Slade. If I get my hands on him, I will...
He destroys my life. He is the reason I cannot rest. He is the reason I pace every night waiting for the call that he has attacked again.
My peace is disturbed by the rest of the team. Cyborg, Beast Boy and Starfire walk up to the launch pad. Starfire floats over to me, her pink hair flowing in the wind. Beast Boy shifts into a dog and then back to a human, playing with Cyborg.
"Why are you all up here?" I ask.
"We got word that the new girl was coming today," Beast Boy says. "Captain sent out an alert, surprised you didn't hear it. Woke me from my beauty sleep."
"We wanted to come up and greet her," Cyborg adds on.
"We are the Teen Titans, and must stick to the gather," Starfire says in her broken English.
"Alright, when did they say she would arrive?" I demand.
"Looks like just about now," Cyborg says, pointing to an aircraft flying from the south. We watch as the aircraft prepares for landing and move away from the launch pad. A large helicopter lands, causing a mass destruction of wind.
Captain steps out of the copter. His gray hairs being swept away in the wind. "Hello, Teen Titans," he greets kindly but firmly. "I bring a girl of great sorcery and power. I hope she will benefit your team." He then motions of a shadow to come out of the copter.
First, it was her eyes, the eyes that were hidden under the cape. Dark purple, with a tinge of hellfire. Second was her pale skin tone, almost as if the sun has not seen her for years. Lastly, it was her dark long hair peaking from her hood. A dark purple suit that exposed her stomach and legs, her muscular legs.
"I trust you in Robin's capable hands," Captain says before returning to the copter. "I wish you the best of luck." The door shuts and the helicopter whirs away, creating such strong winds that the hood of Raven's cape slides off of her head.
A tattoo on her neck, a tattoo of a raven. No one else sees because she just puts her hood back on quickly as possible, but I saw.
"I am the happy to meet you!" Starfire giggles, wrapping her arms around her. Raven doesn't return the hug, doesn't even say anything.
"Well, mama, you look just great," Beast Boy comments flirtatiously, cozying up to her. "You and I are going to get along great!" He begins to examine her up and down. But Cyborg comes in and whisks her away.
"Ignore them," he demands. "I am Cyborg, your friendly robotic teammate. I am fantastic at anything with energy, force and power. Feel free to ask me anything."
"I saw her first!" Beast Boy whines, trying to grab her back.
"Now, now, I talk to her the first!" Starfire says, pulling Raven over quickly. Beast Boy grabs onto her other limb, pulling her to him and Cyborg is practically at her feet. I need to run in there. I need to save her.
A flash of darkness and the three of them are on the ground with Raven in the middle with her hands out. Black force surrounds her hands and then disappears. She is powerful. More powerful than I expected. She walks towards me, slowly and carefully.
"Are you Robin?" she asks, with no tone.
"Yes," I answer, almost nervously.
"Please, take me to my room," she says.
"Of course," I respond, quickly guiding her down the stairs to the room that Captain's men designed. Truly, this is the first time I actually see the room.
I bring her down the hall, past my room and stopping by her door. I let the door slide open to a dark blue room. One wall of glass windows let in a bright light, shedding light on the stenciled raven behind her canopied bed. Her room seems big since the colors are so dark.
"This is your room," I explain. "The bathroom is over there, and the common room is down the hall. The kitchen is just beside the common room. The weapons are stored downstairs, but I don't think today will be necessary for their use."
She nods and turns to me, her purple eyes looking up to me, behind her cape. "Thank you." She says quietly.
"No problem," I say with a smile. "If you need anything don't be afraid to ask. You are a part of the Teen Titans."
She nods once again before going deeper into her room, creating a cue for me to leave. I let the door close in front of me and walk down to the common room. Starfire, Beast Boy and Cyborg are all there, cleaning themselves up.
"What do you think of the new girl?" Cyborg asks as I walk into the room.
"She's strong and capable," I admit. She is a strong sorceress, too bad that Captain give any more information on her past.
"Yea man, and she's looking fine!" Beast Boy adds on excitedly.
"I think she will make the perfect of friend," Starfire says. "Why did she act the cold to us?"
"You were all grabbing onto her, she just probably felt pressured," I say, rubbing the back of my neck with my green glove. "Let her settle in, she must feel a little threatened."
"Threatened?" Cyborg's jaw drops. "She has crazy wicked powers, how could she feel threatened?"
"She's only sixteen," I persuade. "Just try being a little less pressed with her."
They all agree, turning to the TV.
I wonder how she felt.
