It was a Saturday morning and I was finishing packing for my Florida vacation, my home town!  I looked outside the window to see the beautiful sunset in Connecticut.  I was so excited to see my family and close friends when I get to Florida. My grandma said that we were having a BBQ in my honor of me coming home; you know what that means don’t you? Grandma’s cooking! I couldn’t wait, but there was a 16 hour drive to Florida, so I had to fill my iPhone with music and have my Beats by Dre waiting for me at the door. My mom stopped a lot at gas stations. We stopped one more time before we reached Florida.

“Do you want anything out of this store?” My mother asked impatiently

“Ill go in and get me something” I responded back to her

We were in Alabama, the sun was out and the weather was so nice i just gazed at the sun as it reflected on my skin. Glazing into the sun, I felt someone touch my shoulder. It was an older women, she looked like she was in her 70’s. The older women had glasses that could probably take us back to elvis days. Her hair was shiny grey, wool like. She looked at me with confusion, looking me directly in my eyes. I felt dim in a sort of way.

“Hello young lady” the older women spoke to me with authority, Its like she knew me for years. She spoked to me with ease. I felt uneasy

“Umm Hi, how are you doing today?” I asked her timidly

“I’m doing wonderful” She responded

I looked at this women with confusion. Out of all people why would she come talk to me? I turned my attention back to her.

“Thats good to hear, umm do you need any help with anything?” I asked the older women

She stared at me for a while, I was wondering what was going on. It’s like she was lost in her mind, I didn’t want to say anything though.I gave her the eye contact that she needed.

“Oh there’s my daughter with my drink” the older women said in a hurry, like she was trying to get away from something. Maybe me I thought to myself.

“It was nice conversing, you seem like a nice young lady, and pretty to. Just don't let anyone tear you down, I may be old, but i’ve experienced a lot of things in my time.If you care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner” The older women told me

What do she mean by that saying? I never even got her name

.........

“We’re here”, my mother said very excited

I woke up so fast I'm surprised I didn’t get whiplash. I looked at the time and it read 4.00 A.M

“We’re are we going to go if its 4 am in the morning” I said

“I talked to your uncle flip a few hours ago, he said he will leave the doors unlock” she said

“Okay” I said

When we got to my uncles house I quickly fell asleep on the couch. Now that was a good night sleep, but I woke up from the sunlight shining in my eyes, letting me know that it was morning. I got up and once I saw everybody up and getting ready for the day I started to get ready. I put on my YMCMB T-shirt and denim shorts with matching jewelry, and matching vans. I put the S in swag. I had on my real gold Destini necklace and a pink BYOU bracelet, which meant be your own

you, I really stand for that quote. Once I got to my grandma’s house, I was amazed on how many people showed up for me. Everybody from the neighborhood that I knew where there. I got out of the car to greet everyone.

“Welcome home baby” my grandma said to me in a loving way

“Good to be home grandma” I said loved” good to be home”
