I just decided to sit in the seat that was closest to me, just to my luck, the only free spaces were right at the back.

I sat opposite two girls who looked around my age, one with long blonde hair falling down her back and one with short brown hair in waves falling nicely on her shoulders.

"Hi, your Alina, right? I'm Teresa Diamond, but everyone calls me Tess or Tessa." The brunette, Tessa, said while holding out my hand as I shook it.

"And I'm Emma Jones." The blonde girl said, again, I shook hands.

We then just began to talk about everything that came to our minds. As I had no idea what the school was like or who anyone was, they explained it all so that I wasn't so clueless.

Conversation was rather easy, topics coming to mind constantly. They were constantly making lighthearted joking, making me feel more and more comfortable as the seconds went by.

After the feast was finished, we all got up to leave. Emma and Tess kept on muttering things to each other, although it was not in a secretive way. A smiling girl with auburn hair and a Ravenclaw tie walked over and began talking to us, she seemed like a good friend of Tess and Emma's.

"Well, those six weeks flew by didn't they?" She said while hugging Tess and Emma and then made her way to me. "Alina, isn't it?" She asked a welcoming smile on her face as I answered with a yes. "I'm Annabelle, Anna for short, I'll be staying in the same dorm as you, with Tess and Emma obviously." she introduced herself and hugged me as well.

We then all began talking as talking as though we'd been freinds forever, which was rather strange but surreal for me, because of the fact I barely even knew them.

We after a relatively long walk, we reached a plain door with nothing but a bronze door knocker in the shape of an eagle. It then began to speak, asking us the answer to a riddle. A boy, a few years older than us, a fifth year presumably, said the answer and the door open. I shot him a smile in thanks and he replied with a 'no problem'.

"Its rather late so there isn't much we can do, there's no point in going anywhere outside as its dark and students will be everywhere so we might as well get changed and stay in the common room." Tess stated, sitting down on the desk against the wall.

"I agree, but before we do that, we should probably unpack first, otherwise tomorrow we will all be a mess." Anna said, of course we agreed and began to do so. Everyone else finished quite quickly, but as I kept on getting distracted by everything in the room, meaning that I hadn't. As I didn't want to keep them back, I just said I'd finish it later. But I knew that was a lie as I tend to procrastinate with these sorts of things.

We walked into the common room, it was completely empty apart from a group of boys sitting surrounding a desk. I noticed one of the boys as the boy who had answered the riddle earlier, it seemed as though he had noticed me too as he waved slightly and smiled.

I quietly asked if everyone knew them to which they replied no, so I asked if we could go over to them. I soon found myself walking over to them all with Anna, Emma and Tess.

We said hello and introduced ourselves to them and they did the same. Their names were Cas, Dylan, Connor and Oliver.

We just began to make small talk, everyone else doing most of the talking, I had never been very good at conversation when we first met. Hence why it was such a surprise when I found it easy to talk to Emma, Tess and Anna.

I couldn't help but notice that Oliver was the same, not doing much talking. I began talking to him, just the two of us and leaving everyone else to talk by themselves.
