All he could hear was screaming outside his room. He curled himself up into a ball in the corner his hands over his ears trying to block out the sound, trying not to be heard. Things were being thrown then a loud crack rang through the place as a hand meet a cheek. V took a chance to go to his door to try and peak out to see what had happened. His sister was in a crumpled pile on the ground holding her face and his father was standing over her screaming at her. Nothing had been the same since mother died. His sister did the best she could to help take care of them even though she was in college. His father had become so angry taking out the sadness of her death on anything. It had been three years now but things had only gotten worse.
V took the chance to sneak out of the house grabbing his backpack and some clothes before he slipped out. Pulling his jacket around him he quickly made his way down the stairs setting off to the one place he knew felt more like home. Flipping his hood up he hung his head imagining the event he just witnessed. He hated that he was still so powerless to really help anyone he loved. He couldn't do anything as he watched his mother get hit by a car and now he couldn't stop his father from beating his sister. He wondered if he was strong enough to really protect Nabi.
Sure he had beaten up those guys that one night that were trying to get her but there had been so many times that she could have been hurt and he wasn't there to keep it from happening. One of the biggest things he would not be able to protect her from is her own heart. Yea Yoongi was a pretty okay guy but there was still a chance that he could pick his best friend over her. His best friend could also end up getting hurt if Yoongi choose Nabi over him. V tapped on his head with his fist his mind becoming a jumble at what to do. Should he be rooting for his best friend Kookie or for the woman who took such good care of everyone.
Nabi had never talked about it but he had always wondered why she was in Korea. Whenever anyone brought up anything about America and what she had been doing she changed the subject. Was she hiding something or was she trying to hide from something. Was what she went through so bad that she ran away to a country where she had to learn the language and start from nothing. Did she have to live on the streets for a while. He didn't know her then but if he had he would not have been okay with that. V was letting his mind get clouded in all the questions he had about her.
Looking up he saw the familiar section of wall he always came to. Sliding off his back pack he tossed it up onto the top of the wall before taking a running jump at it. He easily climbed up and over it bringing his backpack with him. Sure he could buzz the gate but if she was sleeping he didn't want to disturb her. V pulled a key from his bag and opened the front door quietly going into the house. He slid off his shoes at the door not bothering to put on slippers so he won't make any noise. He made his way slowly up the stairs and down the hall to where her door was. Quietly he opened it looking inside for her but it was dark so he couldn't make out anything. He felt something against his back and instantly froze.
"What do you think you're doing?" Whose voice was that? It wasn't Kookie's voice but it was male.
"I was just checking up on her to see if she was okay." V wanted to turn around but he couldn't make out what was pressed into his back.
"I don't think she would appreciate you snooping around her house in the dark. She just went to bed so you best find somewhere else to be other than her room." The man made him turn and go down the hall. V decided it best to go into Kookie's room and spend the night in there. He turned back to see who it was but only saw the door to her room closing.
