TOLERANCE. Today more than ever we should practice it.
The word tolerance comes from the Latin word tolerare "to bear, support" which comes from tollere that means "raise", in both a physical and figurative way. One raises a flag but also raises the spirits.
It derives from the Ancient Greek verb τλάω –ώ that in turn gave its name to the Modern Greek τόλμη, "boldness, audacity".
Even earlier in history, they all have their origin in the Indo-European root *tel from where it takes its name Ἄτλας, Atlas.
In Greek mythology, Atlas was the Titan in charge of holding on his shoulders the pillars that held Earth and Heaven asunder.
Bearing all this is mind, isn't enough to recognise TOLERANCE is the only way out?
Through respect and trying to understand the other is that we will be able to build a better world; supporting one another without necessarily agreeing or sharing the same viewpoints, habits or beliefs.
We need to have great audacity to live life this way because it appears to be the only way to hold this falling-apart world together, to raise a new kind of humanity."Say a prayer for Paris by all means,
but pray more,
...
For a world that is falling apart in all corners"November 16th International Day of Tolerance
