Rejection hurts. A lot. Especially after you've been with someone for such a long time. So does having someone you love say something so hurtful you can't even react. That hurts too. You've probably had that happen to you before, so take how bad you felt then and multiply that by 5.

That's how Sherlock is feeling right now. John had called him a freak, said he should have stayed with Mary and that's what broke him. Sherlock could handle being called a freak. After all he had been called one all his life; but to say it was a mistake to be with him. That absolutely crushed him. He had the locks changed so no one could come in and disrupt him. He laid down on the couch and sobbed. He cried until it was hard to breathe and his lungs were on fire. He cried until he couldn't anymore and what was left was only dry sobs.

He knew John was right; he was worthless and it was a total mistake leaving Mary. That's when Sherlock turned to drugs. Heroine, Cocaine, Meth, anything he had in his flat. Sharpie fumes even! It had been like that for about a week. A week of constant drugs and little food. The lack of food made him vomit and then loose weight. It didn't matter to him though. He lost the one person who made his life worth while so why did he care of his life wasted away?

It was now Wednesday; a week and a half after John had left and Lestrade had showed up. He needed Sherlock's help and was worried about him. He knocked on the door and waited. After 15 minutes he decided something was wrong and busted the door down. He hurt his shoulder but he'd worry about that later. The sight in front of him was heart stopping. Sherlock was on the couch and wasn't breathing. Lestrade ran over to Sherlock and checked for a pulse. There was one but it was faint. He called 911.

Lestrade gave Sherlock CPR until he regained a little bit of consciousness.

"Thank..you...Greg.." Sherlock said before drifting back into unconsciousness.

Greg was startled. Sherlock finally remembered his name, even if it was when he was dying. He recovered from the shock and continued giving him CPR until the ambulance arrived and put Sherlock on a manual respirator and loaded him into the back of the ambulance.
