Monster Monster

Chapter 2

* NARRATOR POV*

They came to a house in the village." You can stay here." The man's wife said to them when they came in. "Why is Monster Monster poisonous?" Marina asked. So the wife said "Let me tell you a story:

'Once, there was a king named Shoofoo. He was ruler of this land. He was a very bad king, and very harsh on people. Once he discovered that all the people hated him, Shoofoo raised the taxes in the villages, and treated many people very badly. Years later, he was replaced by this better king, King Ling. when Shoofoo died, his bad spirit became this green tiger, and tried to destroy all people for what they've done to him. His poison can make people die in an hour, and many people have suffered from his poisonous scratch. Luckily for us, this village was build next to trees that their leaves can make a cure. Oh! I almost forgot! Monster Monster always comes to destroy our village. He says that if we give him 3 children a month, he will leave us alone for a month. But we don't care because we have the cure."

It was dark, and they were all very tiered. Lia, Mr E 's wife, led them to a room. It had 3 beds. "Good night" Elise said with a yawn. " hey girls, you want to help me hunt down the green tiger tonight?!" "Yes!!!!" Eileen and Elise yelled.

* Marina POV*

I wasn't sure about this. Hunting down for something that can kill you in one scratch? I don't think so. I had nightmares about Monster Monster all night. I was scared. I kept waking up at night from my nightmares. The wind howled, and I didn't know what to do. Before I woke up in the morning, I had a nightmare that the green tiger scratched me and a turned into a green tiger too. At last, I woke up.

I didn't want to go hunting, so I pretended to go to sleep. But Elise tickled me, and I was forced out of bed. Maybe I don't have any sisters, but its like having 2 older sisters because you live with them. Sometimes it's good to be the youngest, but most of the time, it's not. I don't get to be in charge, no one ever listens to me, etc. etc. etc.

Anyways, hunting wasn't going to be fun, and I was sure about that. Nothing good ever comes when your fighting a big, green, poisonous monster!

I was shaking with fear when we walk outside. "Are you ok?" Eileen asked me. I shook my head. "You know what?" She said. "Me and Elise should be the ones that are afraid, not you!" I looked at her with a confused face. "After all, you are the who threw rocks at that monster. You saved us." When I thought about it, I found out that she did have a point. I gained courage and said, " I'll do it" "your my brave little girl" she said giving me a pat on the back.

*Elise POV*

I was nervous and exited at the same time. I couldn't be scared, because then that would prove that a 6 year old (Marina) was braver than me. All we needed was a good plan. I was better at making plans than actually doing them. Eileen is the " adventury" one. I am the one with the plans. So I decided to make up a plan right now. I looked around, and a saw a well. I looked into it, and saw my reflection. "Be careful!" Lia told me. "You don't want to fall in!" Then, I remembered her story. " I got it!" I shouted. "I know how to defeat Monster Monster!

*Eileen POV*

I really hoped that Elise's plan would work. Elise wasn't going to get involved, because she says that making up the plan is plenty of teamwork. That is so unfair! Anyway, me and Marina went to look for the green tiger. Finally, we found him and he growled at us, ready to attack. Calmly, I said " hello Monster Monster." I could feel myself trembling, but I just squeezed Martina's hand and continued " we heard that you requested 3 children per month. So my sisters and I decided to give peace to our village and come to you." Marina was trembling and squeezing my hand. "However, on our way, my sister Elise was taking in by this black tiger named King Ling." he growled. " would you like for us to take you to his cave?" He nodded with a growl, and followed us to were the the well was. I pointed at the well and said " there is his cave! In there!" He growled at his reflection, and it growled back. Soon, it jumped into the well to catch his own reflection, and drowned.

"We did it!" Elise shouted. "More like I did it!" I joked.
