Watching Pastor Rodgers speak a little before he introduces the choir.
I'm sitting here thinking.
There's a lot that I am guilty of, but I'm not different from others. We all bleed the same blood, but that doesn't stop these people from looking at me like I don't need to be up here leading devotional."Cmon' Dana Give us a song."
Pulling me out of my thoughts I stood up walking to the mic."Praise the Lord everybody!"
The Congregation shouts "Praise the Lord."
I take a small breath and start an old song that my grandma use to sing long time ago.
Lay your hands on me Jesus.
I feel God moving on the inside. It makes so excited. But I do know that when I leave church I'll still be a sinner and my sins will be despised by God and the church. We finish the song and I'm a bit sweaty. The choir and I have a seat.
" y-you know ... God has anointed Sis. Dana tremendously. Every time she steps up here... I'm blessed! It helps God and I connect More and More.." He shakes his head. "God bless you sister."
After the statement, I felt relieved. Just to find out that my pastor doesn't have anything against me.
Thank you Jesus. I say to myself. After Service I decided to go home.
I'm tired, and my boo thang is coming over.
Driving on the road I get a call."Hello?"
"Hey, Dana."
"P-Pastor?."
He chuckles."Yeah um, I apologize for calling you and you know .. you're not aware of who it is but, I wanted to speak with you after service. And one of the members told me you were already gone."
"Oh , well I'm sorry. I should've stayed a little, what did you wanna talk about?"
"Pardon me about this but could you come for dinner? My daughter is cooking and she asked about you a little bit before service."
What's crazy is, Pastor and I are a year apart. He had a daughter 14 years ago out of wedlock, he wasn't saved then... he's talked about it a lot in church."That's fine with me pasto-"
"Oh... please, call me Eric." I smiled. You see, the pastor has never been married. I'm getting a picture of us in my head. But I'm not right, I'm not even... I'm just gone push that to the back of my mind.
"Danaaa, Dana!"
Realizes that I was in space."Oh, I'm sorry. I'm headed right over."
"Alright see you then ,drive safely."
We hang up.
I headed over to the neighborhood by My boo thang's daughter's school.
Passing the school, turning in the neighborhood where all of these two story homes are.
I soon pulled up. Spraying my best perfume before I cut the car off and got out.
Walking to the door with my hair swaying back and forth.
I reach the door ringing the doorbell, and my phone buzzes.
I reach down digging in my purse and the door swings open.
The pastor had changed, and his attire is well put together... I mean his house attire.I smiled. "Hi.." I'm so nervous especially because this is my pastor.
"Well don't you just stand there come on in.." He said smoothly. I walked in.
Looking around a little before he closed the door.
"Ciara! Dana is here!"
He yelled from downstairs and his daughter came running downstairs hugging me tightly.
I hug back laughing a little.
"Hey Ciara how you been?"
She released me from her arms looking at me.
"I've been real good Ms.Dana! I missed you much much much!" She squealed. I was smiling too.
"I've missed you too."
