Chapter one: Birthday
"Nessie, wake up sweetheart," I called up the stairs.
"Ugh," was the only reply I got.
"Renesmee, you really have to get up and ready now."
"No, it's Saturday." Well she talked this time. She's not a morning person, probably because she grows so much. She's five, but she looks about fifteen. Carisle says she's probably not going to grow as quickly now and will stop completely soon. I walked up the stairs and opened her well decorated door.
"Ness, please wake up." She didn't respond, so I turned on the light. She quickly threw the covers over her head.
"Turn it off!"
"Ness, do you remember what today is?" She didn't say anything. "Your birthday, perhaps?" She threw the covers off and stood up.
"Oh my gosh, I forgot. Get out! I have to get ready." I closed the door, laughing. I walked into the living room where Edward was sitting on the couch.
"What's so funny?" he asked, amused.
"She has about the memory of the squirell in the morning, considering she hasn't been able to stop talking about her birthday for the past two months." He laughed.
"I can agree with that." He gave me a kiss on the forhead. I frowned. "What's wrong?" he asked me.
"It's nothing." He wrinkled his forehead.
"It sure doesn't look like nothing. Tell me what's wrong."
"It's just, she's growing up so fast. She's not at all our little girl anymore. Honestly, she's as tall as me. She's way taller than Alice."
Edward laughed again. "Dear, everyone is taller then Alice."
I pouted. "Five year olds aren't."
"Ness isn't excactly a five year old. She's never really been a little girl."
"That's partly what upsets me. I feel like she'll never be a normal girl."
"Dear, Nessie's never been I normal girl and she never will be. She grew up living with Emmett. I'm sure that fact alone would take away anyone's normalcy." I chuckled.
"Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason. Don't count the half vampire, half human thing, or the living with eight vampires, or even the imprinting a werewolf thing. No, Emmett's the reason my daughter isn't normal." Edward laughed.
"I guess your right, dear."
"I always am, aren't I?" We heard Nessie's door open. I stood up and went over to her. She was wearing a turquoise tank top and a pair of crisp, white shorts that reached right above her knees. She managed to tame some of her long, curly, bronze hair. "Happy birthday! Are you ready to go, darling?" I asked.
"Yeah, Mom. Just let me grab my purse real quick." I nodded and she ran back to her room. Then my phone buzzed. It was Alice?
"Bella!" she practically shouted when I answered it. "Where are you? Hurry it up all ready! Everyone's going to be here at about noon and it's nine now. That means I only have three hours and fifty minutes to get Renesmee looking perfect and decorate the house! The clock is ticking!"
"Hello, Alice. It's nice to see you too She's grabbing her purse and then we'll be there, okay. Calm down."
"Fine. but hurry!" I sighed and hung up the phone.
"Edward, your sister's insane."
"Ah, but she's you sister too now, and honestly she likes you a whole lot better then she does me. It entertains her that you 'can't dress yourself properly,' Her words, not mine."
