The Lab

The scientist fidgets through a wooden drawer, attempting to calm his nerves, but failing to do so. He slouches down on his chair and turns around as the entrance to his lab swooshes open and a man walks through. "Did you give them the note?" The scientist asks, clenching his hands together and flickering his eyes from one area to another.

"Well, Grace... Or Hannah... I don't know who, spotted me. So I dropped the note and ran away, sir."

The scientist sighs before replying. "There's no doubt that at least one of them picked up the note and read it. Maybe even think that it's not true."

"How do you know so much about them, sir?"

"I told you, both of them used to very close to me. Until..."

"You don't have to speak about it, sir. I know it brings you a lot of pain."

"Thank you. You may go now." The scientist concludes, while gesturing the man to the door. Tears start to well up in his eyes, but the scientist wipes them a way harshly, before the man could see.

As the man exits, the scientist glances over at the picture nearby on the wall of Hannah, Grace and himself. He shakes his head, trying to get rid of all the stress that was built up inside of him. Getting back into the working zone, the scientist gently places his fingers on the keyboard and begins to type.

When I want something, I never stop until I get it. Keep that in mind, Doctor.
