"What if"

"What will your future husband say on your wedding day when he see's your scars?"

My parents told me while looking at my already scarred and cut up wrists.
I don't know what to say.
But I know what to do.
I will simply smile.
I will show them the smile my future husband will see on my wedding day when he doesn't look at my wrists and sees ugliness.
I will say
"He will look past them. He will look at them and see beauty, knowing I was going through a hard time and that I couldn't handle my emotions. But just knowing I didn't kill myself one of those nights. He will be glad I am alive and that I am a survivor. I lived with my terrible thoughts that told me to die. But knowing I have lived to that point and that I'm alive will make him happy. He will look past my scars and my past. He will see me in ways you have never seen me before.
So mother, father.
I wish you a goodnight..."
