'Right. Okay, Breathe *reader*. Everything will be fine, it's just your first day it should be fine.'
It is your first day of being a member of the Akatsuki. Yes, THAT criminal organisation but what's wrong that? You are a rogue ninja.
'All I have to do is cause no trouble with the other members and I should fit in. Jeez it's like the academy all over again...'
...at the akatsuki base...
"This is *reader* and she will be replacing Hidan as Kakuzu's partner." Said your new leader.
You looked around the room at all the other members; you were specifically searching for female members.
'Phew, there's two other women. At least I won't be surrounded by men.'
After your introduction the leader left with the purple haired kunoichi. Everyone else returned to what activities they were doing before you interrupted. Not knowing what to do with yourself, you decided to go over to the blonde you had seen earlier and strike up a conversation. You had a smile plastered on your face and began talking to her as she kept her head down as she concentrated on some sort of clay. Since she did not look up as you neared her you began the conversation.
"Hi. I'm so relieved that there's more women here, I was worried I'd be the only one he-" you stopped short as you realised your mistake. She looked up at you angrily, no, not an expression of anger but fury. He was man. A man with long (very convincing) blond hair. 'Pfft...don't beat yourself up, anyone would mistake him for a women with that hairstyle.' You cursed your inner self and focused more on your weak attempt at an apology towards the glaring man.
"What did you just call me?" his voice dripped with venom.
"She called you a woman, sempai! A woman! HAHAHA perhaps I should start calling you Dei-chan from now on." A childish man wearing a bright orange mask started laughing hysterically whilst pounding on his sempai's back. This only made his face distort into a further look of rage.
"I know what she said, you idiot! As for you, you're lucky I don't show you what my art is. If it weren't for leader-sama's orders you would be dead." You could see the rage radiating of him and honestly it frightened you a little bit. Although you would never express said emotion.
"I am so, so sorry! I didn't realise my fault!" Your attempt of recovering that once potential friendship was gone in a flash as the blond continued yelling at you with what you could only guess was hatred.
Your developing argument had now caught the attention of the other members; some looked interested in the fight, and others were not so amused. In fact, you noticed a black-haired man you guessed only a few years your senior looked over in what you could only describe as exasperation before returning to an impassive expression as he flicked through a scroll. You were blushing heavily as you not only felt humiliated for drawing attention to yourself on your first meeting with the other members, but knew that everyone would remember this and regard you as an annoyance. You don't want to be treated like that 'Tobi' character who everyone appeared to turn away from.
Luckily, but also at the same time unfortunately, a tall man with tanned skin came into the room.
"Come on, we have a mission. After that we can go hunt a bounty. You will be suitable for bait." Within a second of saying that to you, your new partner swivelled around and walked out of the room. Relief crashed over you like a wave as you quickly apologised to Deidara (you had learned his name was) and briskly strode out of the room.
...a few weeks later...
'Well...this sucks. I have no partner now. Who will I talk to on missions now? If I talk to myself I may go (slightly) insane and no one would want that. Perhaps I'll join another pair...hang on, I'm discussing this to myself.'
With a long sigh you traipsed back into the Akatsuki lair and reported back to leader-sama.
After cleansing yourself of the blood and dirt which accumulated on your mission; which now seemed to form a layer on your body. Your face changed from one of disgust to contempt. You changed into clean attire and went to socialise with the others. Kisame, a shark-man hybrid with a blue hue on his skin, became the member who you developed a friendship to. You discussed many things with Kisame over the course of the evening until you were summoned into leader-sama's office. You always felt the air leave your lungs whenever you stepped into the office, you never knew why but it always put you at unease.
"*reader* as you have no partner now you will join Deidara and Tobi. There will be no objections. You may all leave now." 'All?' you questioned. You hear the doorknob turning and hear who was there before seeing them. Your two new team mates. Tobi was already talking about how excited he was to be on a team with two girls. You sweat dropped knowing that since Tobi was still joking about the incident that Deidara will still be holding a grudge against you. The door almost slammed shut in your face as you approached the door. You were caught off guard when Deidara crashed you against a wall and held a kunai to your throat.
"Don't think that because we're on the same team that I'll treat you different. This changes nothing. Don't even consider talking to me while we're on missions or I might even tell leader-sama that you were K.I.A." He released you and you slid down a portion of the wall. You didn't want to admit it but at that moment, despite his hostile attitude and threats, that his eyes were the most calming blue colour you'd ever seen.
'Oh dear...I'm feeling! This isn't good! We're on the same team now and I don't know how to deal with them' you thought as your heart raced. Deidara looked at you, scoffed, and turned away to walk down the dark hall. Your heart beat gradually slowed down as you thought of uninteresting things. Cows. Birds in the sky. Blue. His eyes. 'Damn it!' you cursed yourself when your mind drifted off towards the attractive blond again.
~~ Deidara's POV (just to change things up a bit) ~~
I sigh as I finally reach my room, fortunately the idiot didn't follow me. He needed time to think without the noise of his roommate.
'This is a lot harder than I thought. Who'd have thought that hate could change in the blink of an eye to love... ?'
It began as a simple attraction before she mistook me for a woman, but after the initial anger and obsessive complaining about her it blossomed into a warming feeling. I'd never admit that though, not until I knew where I stand with her. The hard truth is that I really like – no love – *reader* but she is so infuriating. I need to keep being aggressive or else she'll figure out my feeling.
...one month later...
After many missions, you had finally gotten used to the stares of Deidara. Seriously, whenever she turned around he was staring. Although she enjoyed peering at his handsome face it was beginning to worry her.
'Was she that annoying that he was planning her demise without her knowing?' A part of her was afraid while another part of her was sad. Had she not been civil and kept out of his way every time they went on a mission. Usually it is only Tobi who speaks to her, so to have Deidara giving her the silent treatment AND staring is freaking her out a little bit. That night she kept watch for the trio, she painfully swallowed the lump that had grown in her throat and wiped away the premature tears as she thought over her feelings towards the detached blond man she cared for so.
~ Unknown to you in your current state, Deidara heard her sniffles and pondered what was wrong with her. Worry filled him as he thought the worst. He did not like when you were upset, you deserved the best. Not just him. Deidara lay there thinking over his chances of winning your heart. He believed there were little to none. ~
...one week later...
You were currently on a mission when you came across a boy named Sasuke Uchiha, Itachi's little brother. You looked over at Deidara as he vented off his frustration about the young Uchiha. You worried over him, he seemed to be getting too worked up. Fear consumed you as you knew he would begin a fight.
"Deidara. Don't." you warned him with a stern face, determined to prevent the fight.
"Stay out of this, *reader*." Deidara responded in a voice thick with emotion which you were taken aback by.
"Please don't do this. You know you're getting carried away."
"Listen to her, what was your name, Deidara? I will destroy anyone on my path to Itachi. You can't beat me so don't start a fight you know you won't win." The black haired boy, who you hated to admit was as attractive as his older brother, intervened in our conversation. You were partially happy that he was siding with you, but the way he worded it made him sound as though he was wanting to fight too. This worried you.
"Deidara please. I didn't want to tell you this but I love you! If you go through with this you will die and it will kill me! It physically hurts when I know you're in pain...Please..." tears flowed down your cheeks which caused your throat to ache as you struggled to breathe. Deidara stared at you intensely as the words sank in.
"Wait, what? You love me? I love you too." All he could do was stare at the woman he loved with an ever-changing mixed expression of shock, love, joy, and despair. Sasuke and Tobi watched on at the exchange. The blond walked towards you as you held your breath. He placed his hands on you; one around your waist, and against cheek. You were slightly surprised by the feeling of the extra mouths on his palms but that thought quickly became non-existent (just like everything else) as his lips met yours in a sweet, yet passionate and strong, kiss.
You were the first to part the kiss as you needed to breathe. You looked into those eyes which you had initially fallen in love with and embraced him. You were so happy that the tears of pain became tears of joy. A smile graced your face...until you heard the next thing he whispered in your ear.
"I'm sorry, *reader*, but I have to do this." You could hear the tremble in his voice as he said so. You both pulled away and you could only watch as he walked back towards the young Uchiha. You could not believe it, he just admitted he reciprocated your feelings and now he's going to die...you felt yourself stop moving, stop thinking, just stop.
You were interrupted by Deidara again. You looked up towards him as he stared at you – that same stare you knew from the missions – you held back a choke again.
"I don't regret telling you. Remember that. Please, if anything does happen, just remember what we felt just now." His face was stern but you could see his pain with his decision; his eyes were tearing up and his voice cracked as he said this. Tobi shared a look with Deidara and before you could comprehend what was happening the two of you were far from the fight. You couldn't watch, it was too much.
...
The fight was over. You went over to where a large crater, and you searched for any remnants of the man you loved. No clothes, no body, nothing...
"*reader*-chan, lets head back to base. We need to tell leader-sama"
"Tobi-sempai, please just give me a minute...this is all that Uchiha's fault." Anger and hatred bubbled within you as your heartbreak dissipated. You knew you could not just sit quietly and think of that moment between the two of you. How could you? The man you love was taken away from you after you had just told each other how you feel. Ignoring your inner self who was telling you to go back to base, you ran after the young Uchiha. You saw red.
...later that day...
You had finally caught up with Sasuke and confronted him.
"How dare you! You killed the one I love and now I'll kill you!" you shouted at the unemotional boy.
The fight was finished in no time. Sasuke stood over your dead body, turned around, and headed towards Itachi's location again.
....
Black.
All you could see was black.
Then there was light. A small light in the dark abyss you were in. Slowly, you walk to the light.
It was a house.
You open the door, and go into the house. Hearing someone walk into the hallway you look round.
Deidara.
You stare in shock at the man, a grin on his face as you run towards him.
"Deidara! What is this?"
"This is what death is like. It is where we would have lived in the future if we didn't die. At first I didn't know why I was in a house but once I seen you I knew that was it. We may have died, *reader*, but at least we will be together for ever" he sounded so happy as he held you in a tight embrace.
"I love you."
"I love you, too."DISCLAIMER
