The Best Friend // Harry Styles

Chapter Nine

The morning sun shines through my thin curtains as I slowly wake up. Harry's text from last night sent my mind into a whirl. I push the thought to the back of my mind and get out of my bed, walking towards the bathroom to have a shower.
"Are you almost ready Scarlett? You're going to be late." My mum calls from the other side of the door.
"Shit." I mumble and turn off the water.
I wrap my towel around my body and rush to my room. I put the dreadful school uniform on and pull my hair up into a messy pony tail. I grab my backpack and rush out of the door.
"I'm ready mum!" I shout as I run out of the front door.
"Coming!"
The drive to the school is short, we pull up in less than ten minutes.
"Alright scar, see you at three?" She asks.
"Yeah I'll see you than mum, love you." I say and kiss her on the cheek and leave the car.
Stesha rushes to my side the moment I step through the schools doors.
"Hey cutie." She says, hooking her arm with mine."
"Hey Stesha." I laugh.
"I've got good news." She squeals.
"What's that?" I say, unlocking my locker and getting the things out I need for first period.
"Their is a huge party on this weekend to welcome everyone back to school, and we are going!" She says excitedly.
"I don't know..." I say nervously.
Truth is I've never actually been to a party before and I didn't know if I wanted to.
"Um no, you're going!" She says and slams my locker shut, pulling me along the hall.
"I probably won't even be invited." I say.
"You won't be invited? You sure about that? I heard that Jason Barnes, the goddess is the one hosting it and he reckons you're totally cute." She says.
"And who is this Jason Barnes?" I ask.
"You'll find out sooner than you think." She says and walks away, leaving me alone in the middle of the hall.
"What do you mea-"
"Hey, Scarlett right?" A deep voice says from behind me.
I turn around to see a gorgeous boy standing behind me. He was stunning with dark olive skin, deep brown eyes and a dazzling smile.
"Uh, yeah I am." I say nervously.
"I'm Jason." He smiles.
"Ahh Jason." I say nodding, it all makes sense now.
"What's that mean?" He laughs.
"Oh my friend was just telling me that you're hosting a party this weekend." I say.
"And she's right? Will I see you there?" He asks.
"I don't know..." I reply with the same response as I had with Stesha.
"Aw come on, you've got to make an appearance." He says.
"I guess I could show up." I smile.
"Well I'm looking forward to seeing you there, catch you later Scarlett." He winks and walks off as the bell for first period rings.
A smile is stretched from ear to ear as I walk to math class. I take my seat and pull out my book and pens. The chair beside me pulls out and I look over to see Harry sitting down next to me.
"Saw you talking to Jason Barnes, you would go for that fuck head." He says.
"Pff, take a look at yourself Harry." I say.
"So you have a thing for him than?" He says, staring at me.
"What does it matter to you?" I spit out. "Just be quiet I don't want to talk to you."
The rest of the class goes by with Harry not speaking to me, and I'm okay with that. I will admit it is hard. It's hard to see my best friend that I spent every day with walk by me everyday without a second glance. The class finally ends and I rush out and head to second period. When the bell rings for lunch I walk out of the class with Maryia and head for the canteen.
"So are you coming to Jason's party this weekend?" She asks me.
"Yeah I think I'm going to." I say.
"Yay! Are you coming shopping this afternoon?" She asks.
"I didn't know use were going shopping, who's going?" I ask.
"Just me and Stesha for something to wear to the party, Sarah isn't coming to the party, she has work." She says.
We take a seat at the table with Sarah and Stesha and Maryia tells Stesha the news.
"Yes! I knew you would come." She says.
"We need to get outfits that look mint!" She shouts excitedly.
We talk about the night over lunch and plan for this afternoon. I send my mum a text letting her know I won't be home till later tonight and get back to planning for the party.
Three o'clock finally hits and the girls and I are out the door quickly. The mall is only down the road from the school so we start walking.
"Let's go to ally, there is so much stuff there." Stesha says.
After ten minutes our arms are full of clothes and we head for the change rooms to try them all on. I have a variety of dresses and playsuits that caught my eye. The third dress I try on is a tight fitting black dress that reaches mid thigh. The chest goes down in a v shape, making my cleavage clearly shown.
"Guys I think I've found the one!" I say.
I walk out and both girls gasp as the look me up and down.
"It's perfect!" Maryia shouts.
"You look sexy!" Stesha squeals.
I look in the mirror and I deffinetly agree, it clings to my curves and looks amazing.
The girls find their outfits and we pay for them and leave the store. I call my mum and when she arrives I wave goodbye to the girls and get in the car.
"What'd you buy?" She asks.
"Just a dress for this weekend." I reply.
"What's this weekend?" She asks.
"I got invited to a back to school party." I say.
"Ohhh exciting." She says.
We get back to the house and I grab a plate of the dinner my mum made and walk to my room. I check my phone and see a text from Jason.
"Hey Scarlett, excited to see you this weekend ;)"
My mouth pulls into a huge grin and I realise I am excited to see him too.
