Chapter 3
We pulled up to the field and Dallas parked his truck next to the others. Kaitlynn got out and dragged me along with her blabbering excitedly about how I was gonna love the bon-fire. We walked over to everyone, which was everyone I met at the lunch table, and were greeted with a few "hey's" and a "your late" from Emmet.
Dallas nodded "sorry man. Took a while to get away from the parents" he said. Emmet nodded and saw me "hey Lexie!" he said excitedly. I smiled and he dragged me to sit between him and Granger.
You could hear Jason aldean's song tattoos on this town playing in the background. I smiled at the song and looked around. Scarlett and Grace were talking about their trip to the mall that they plan on going to Saturday. Sarah smiled at me "There must be good shopping in New York, huh?" she asked. I nodded "yup. There were lots of shops to choose from" I said remembering the shopping trips my mom and I took once every few weeks, I smiled. Kaitlynn smiled "sounds like fun" she said. Dallas snorted "no sounds like a waste of money to me" he said. Granger, Hunter, Emmet, and Ryder nodded in agreement.
Kaitlynn and Sarah stuck their tongues out at them "haters" they said laughing. I smiled at that and laughed a little. Granger looked over at me and smiled at me, which I returned. But this action didn't go unnoticed because Kaitlynn winked at me. I smiled back at her and she giggled.
"So, New York, what are your plans this weekend?" Emmet asked. I shrugged "no idea yet, why?" I asked. Emmet rose an eyebrow "well if you want, I can show you around, maybe catch a movie?" Emmet said smirking. Scarlett laughed "Emmet, the girl doesn't want to go out with you!" she said. I laughed "no thanks Emmet" I said. He pouted "fine then. But one day you're gonna want this" he said pointing at himself. I laughed "nah" I said. That got everyone laughing and soon we got into a conversation about the school and the kids there.
I nodded and listened intently. Better to know who to stay away from and who I can talk too, right? Soon enough, it hit 11:30 and everyone had to get home. But apparently Kaitlynn and Dallas forgot they were giving me a ride because they left without me!
I walked back to the bon-fire sighing and saw Granger. He lives near me right, so I'll ask him if I can catch a ride, I thought. I walked over and sat next to him. He was just watching the fire go out. I sat next to him and he smiled at me. "I thought you outta left by now?" he asked. I frowned "so does that mean you don't want me to be here?" I said jokingly. "Nah, I just mean, I thought Dallas and them were your ride" he said.
I frowned "nope, apparently they forgot about me" I said. He laughed "well then miss, May I escort you home?" he asked standing up and sticking his hand out to me. I took his hand and stood up "you may" I said smiling. He nodded and pulled me to his car not letting go of my hand. And trust me I didn't object. He walked over to the passenger side and opened the door. "Thank you" I muttered getting in. He nodded and walked over to his side. He got in and started the engine. The song she's country by Jason Aldean started to play and I sang along softly. Granger kept shooting me glances and smiling at me which made a blush creep onto my face. I looked out the window so he wouldn't see. We all too soon for my liking pulled into my drive way, he got out and walked to my side, opening the door for me. "Thanks for the ride" I said. He nodded "No problem. Anything for a pretty lady" he said. I blushed "can I ask you a question though?" I asked. He nodded "sure" "why did you keep looking at me when I was singing to the song?" I asked. He smiled "to be honest Lexie, I didn't think you'd know that song" he said. I smiled "well then, just because I'm from New York, doesn't mean I can't be country" I said. He nodded "I know. Anyway I better get home. Goodnight Lexie" he said kissing my cheek. I nodded feeling my cheeks on fire "goodnight Granger" I said walking up towards the door.
