Chapter 2.

Beep! Beep! Beep!  I groaned as my hand slammed down on my alarm clock. I hate you I thought at my alarm clock. I sighed and went to take a shower. Once I got back in my room I looked at the clock 6:35a.m.  It read. I sighed wishing I was in my bed instead and went to my closet. I pulled on some clothes and quickly did my make-up the whole time my dad was yelling for me. After countless minutes of him yelling and me getting ready we were in the car. I know what you’re thinking. Your dad’s driving you to school? And the answer is yes unfortunately. I don’t have a car yet but I’m hoping I will soon because I hate the bus. Once some kid put glue in my hair and that was freshman year.

Here it goes. I thought as I got out of the car. Quickly noticing all eyes stop and stare at me. Some smiled at me while a few frowned and turned around. I shrugged and grabbed my bag.

“Bye sweetie, have a great day!” my dad said enthusiastically. I rolled my eyes and internally groaned. Really? Sweetie gah my dad was too happy to be back. I thought as I made my way to the front office. Or at least I tried to but two things were in the way. One being I had no idea where the front office was and two was all the people staring freaked me out.

“Excuse me ma’am you need help?” a sweet southern voice filled my ears.  I looked to my left and saw a handsome guy with messy blonde hair and blue eyes smiling at me. Country boys are cute I noted.

“Um. Yes please if you don’t mind” I said looking around. “I’m Lexie by the way” He nodded “Well, miss, Lexie I’m Hunter. And this building happens to be the front office which I do believe your trying to find” he said. I nodded “it is. Well thanks Hunter but I should probably go get my schedule” He nodded and flashed me a cute smile “If you need any more help come find me “he said as he started to leave.

“Definitely” I whispered and went in to the office. “Hello! You must be Lexie Conner” I nodded “yup” The lady nodded and said “here is your schedule along with a map. Wouldn’t want you getting lost now would we?” I just nodded and took the papers “thanks” I mumbled. She nodded “no problem! I’m principal Kadar.” I nodded and she smiled “well off to class you go” I spun on my heels mumbling a “thank you” and “bye” before shuffling off to first period. I looked over my schedule and saw my classes.

 Art- mrs.Meadow

Math- Mrs. Clearwater

Science- Mr.Brandow

Gym- Mr.Roder

Literature - Ms.Wright

American History- Mr. Hayes

Study hall- Mrs. Allen

Interesting schedule but at least I have art first. It’s my favorite class. I went looking for the building which took longer than expected which led me to be late. I rushed in but stopped when I saw 17 pairs of eyes on me. Classes are small I thought.  My old school had about 25 to 30 to a class. “Ah. Yes you must be Ms.Conner I presume?” Mrs.Meadow said shaking me from my thoughts. “Yes I am.” She nodded “okay take a seat anywhere” I looked around the room and sat at an empty chair with no one else around.

“As I was saying” Mrs.Meadow continued “this week we will be working in groups of two or three. Your group will create something whether it’s a sculpture, a painting, or anything really; the only thing is it must pertain to the 1800’s”   A lot of the students groaned while I just nodded.  “Okay now split into groups” she said.

I looked around and sighed. Everybody was already forming groups and I’m sitting here like a loner.

“Hey you wanna join our group?” a girl asked coming up to me with a guy following behind. I looked over “sure” I said with relief.
