Chapter 1
I hate last minute packing with a passion. I’m such a procrastinator; I’ve been trying to not do this for the past month and a half. Being the oh so smart me I thought I could finish all of this the day before, yeah no. I am sitting here in this, now that I think about it, insanely large room trying to pack up my stuff. Why? Because were moving. Yay, hence the sarcasm.
“MOM!” I yelled
“What?!” she yelled back probably gathering things from downstairs.
“Can I stop now?” I asked my voice full of hope
“Alex, you’ve been packing for 40 minutes honey.” She said her voice full of laughter
“I know, but it was worth a shot.” I said sighing
Maybe I need music perhaps that will change my mood. I went over to my iPhone dock and put it on shuffle, the first thing that came on was on Radioactive by Imagine Dragons came on. I smiled happy with my phones choice, I started to try and do my routine again.
”I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive”
“Alex shut up! You can’t sing.” My mom said teasingly from downstairs
“Yes I can your just jealous!” I laughed knowing I can’t sing.
I heard footsteps and then my mom appeared in the doorway. “Babe, let’s be real you sound like a chimpanzee trying to give birth while smoking weed.” My mom said
I looked at her and we both bursted out laughing at the same time. I fell on the floor and started clapping like a retarded seal, with tears rolling down my face.
“Thanks mom you’re great.” I said after finally calming down.
“I know.” She said cockily while flipping her hair and walking out of my room
“Wait, aren’t you gonna help me pack?” I questioned
“No, why would I do that you’re the stupid one that decided to pack last minute.” She said matter-of-factly and left.
I only rolled my eyes and continued to pack.

With tears in my eyes, I gave my best friends Jake, Nick and Malia a last hug. They’ve been my best friends for most of my life. Malia and I were considered ‘one of the guys’, like we didn’t hang out with those fake blondes with so much makeup caped on their faces they could work at the circus. We were those girls that do laser tag instead of going tanning, or rather stay in and eat everything and have a movie night with the guys then get our nails done. We spent elementary, middle, and most of high school together, but now because of my dad’s new job transfer we have to move like 40 minutes away. It’s not that bad but now I have to go to a new school.
“Come on kid, don’t be such a girl.” Nick said patting me on the shoulder
“Oh shut up, you ass you know you’ll miss me too.” I said
“Yeah, you’re right, but it’s not like you won’t see us almost every weekend.” He said lifting my chin up to look him in the eyes.
I smiled and pulled him and Jake into a big hug and turned to look at Malia. I could see she was tearing up too. I pulled her into a big hug and she wrapped her arms around me.
