8 am

Roy arrived as early as 8 am that day. It was his first day of job and he wanted to make a good impression. His arrival at the office was welcomed with curious glances of the employees. "What are you doing here, kid?" someone greeted him.

"Uh, I'm looking for Mr. Ma," he said. "Can you help?"

"And you are...?"

He debated whether he needed to tell the truth or not, but he was rescued by the old man himself. "Good morning, Wang Yuan. You're early. Come with me."

He bowed to the employee muttering thanks and he followed the senior assistant to his office. The assistant's office was basically located before the CEO's room, so whoever needs to visit the CEO's office will have to pass by the assistant. "This is your desk, and your laptop," Mr. Ma directed. "You'll work here, while your boss will be inside."

"Is he inside?" he couldn't help asking.

"Not yet. Master Junkai will usually leave his door open when he's inside. He always arrive at exactly 8.30 am. Make sure you arrive before him. He is very punctual and he won't like you being late."

Roy nodded. "Also, I'll tell you this. Master Junkai is very particular about tidiness. He expects everything to be neat, clean, and tidy, especially inside his office. This might be trivial but he could be easily angry just because of small things. Make sure you pay attention to that."

Roy swallowed worriedly. His new boss seemed to be a difficult character, and he wondered whether he could make friends with him. He knew full well that he himself was a messy person, and he made a mental note to not to do it in office. "Come, you can sit down here and I'll teach you how to open emails and stuff."

"Alright. Woah, a new laptop for me? Cool!" Roy said excitedly. His excitement was quickly replaced with seriousness once Mr. Ma had guided him through about his responsibilities. He realized that executive assistant's job was a huge task. He's the point of contact of everyone before the CEO, and he had to filter unnecessary things out, or settle those by himself. He needed to quickly knew every head of departments and the CEO's immediate staffs because those were the people he will interact with the most.

"Well, that's basically it. I will arrange a meeting to introduce you to everyone, and then you should be able to do everything without me."

"Wait, what - are you not working here anymore?" Roy said, bewildered. Mr. Ma smiled. "I will be retiring in three days."

Roy's jaw dropped. "B-b-b-but then w-what if I need to ask something that I d-dont know?" he stuttered in shock.

"You can ask your boss for help," Mr. Ma replied. "There he is."

Karry arrived at exactly 8.30 am. "Oh, you're here," he greeted, looking at his new assistant. "Mr. Ma, what's my agenda for today?"

"Good morning, Master Junkai. I have arranged a meeting with all your staff to introduce Wang Yuan at 10 am. Nothing else on schedule today."

"Okay."

"G-good morning boss." Roy echoed, in order not to be impolite. Mr. Ma warned him. "You should call him Mr. President."

"But 'boss' sounded much more cool," he defended in a childish way. Karry couldn't help to chuckle a bit. "'Boss' is fine. And take care of your sleeve button."

Roy grabbed his sleeve and found out that it was unbuttoned. He looked at his boss in amazement. "Continue what you need to do," Karry said, entering his office. He did leave his door open as Mr. Ma had said.

"You see, he's very particular about small things."
