"What's going on, Sarah?" It was Logan.
"Oh,nothing," I said, now standing up. "I, uh, I was just a little, um, upset."
"Upset?" I nodded. "About what? Tell me only if you want to."
I decided that I needed to open up to people about my depression. So, going with it, I said, "I have to tell you something. Something I need to open up about."
Sitting down next to me, Indian style, he said, "Okay. But are you sure you want to tell me what it is?"
"Yes, Logan, I am very sure of what I'm about to do."
For about an hour, we were talking. He hugged me after I finished telling him what I had to. Suddenly, he just whisked his head in my direction and just stared. For quite long, actually. Then, after long, he said, "You're not alone, Sarah. You need to keep it in mind that." He paused, as if to add dramatism. Then, he slowly whispered, "You're not the only one."
Slowly but surely, I got what he was trying to say. Whispering back, asked, "You too?"
With a curt nod of his head, my doubts were cleared. Without a second thought, I just gave him a hug, because I could now for sure say we could truly understand each other.
"Do you wanna tell me the reason?"
"I don't know. I'm not sure whether or not am I ready just yet to tell about it to people."
"Take my advice, if your aren't sure, you don't need to open up. It took me four years to open up. Wren, he knew I cut, but he didn't know the reason until yesterday. I think that, you should open up when you really feel that you're ready to face the critisism and the comments and the unnecessary sympathy that comes along."
"Thanks, Jean."
"Anytime, Logan."
"We should get some sleep. We need it."
"Yeah. C'mon, let's go."
We got up and left the study. Just as I was about to enter the room, Logan called out to me and said, "I trust you enough, enough to tell you that even before my brother or best fried. Do keep it to yourself."
"Remember one thing Logan, I will never, ever, break your trust."
Saying so, we finally went into our rooms. The next morning, I dreaded going to school. I went and after the first exam period, I felt that my brain was going to drip out of my ears. But I felt that I'd done well in Russian History.
We had an hour and a half for lunch break, maybe to prepare ourselves for the second exam period. I had French Literature. Trying to remember everything I could, I started towards the lunchroom. There, I found all my friends sitting at our regular table. Just as I was about to enter the lunchroom, I saw Logan. We both entered the lunchroom together, and surprisingly he sat at our table. It wasn't just me who was shocked to see Logan sit with us, but all my friends were too.
"What are you doing here, Logan?" It was Reese, another one of my best friends, who broke the apparent glare show going on between the boys.
"Nothing, Reese," replied an agitated Logan, mocking Reese.
"As much as we'd love to see who wins the stare-down, we don't want fights happening," Rochelle said, breaking he stare competition the boys were having. "Welcome, Logan. I am new to the group," she continued. "So, I don't think I am in the place to tell you that you are welcome to the group, but in my tiny amount of time with this group, I know that they love having people like them in the group. So, on behalf of everyone on this table, I welcome you to the group." She said all this in one breath and a huge grin on her.
