Troye's POVThe sounds of my converse walking on the cement made it a nice time to think. Today was a pretty decent day I guess.
In 3rd period this guy kept staring at me. And I kept giving him weird looks back. And the odd thing is, is that I've caught him looking at me before. But he spent the whole 52 minutes... examining me. What did he want? Maybe he was just looking for ways to pick on me. That was probably it. I've gotten used to people bullying me so I just stopped thinking that anyone would want to be my friend.
I was pulled out of my thought by a group of kids snickering behind me. My head turned around before I could even think, and a tall guy with his hair swooped to his left stepped forward. At this point we both stopped walking, and they were staring me down. I scanned over them, taking in what harm they could do to me. The guy that stepped out shoved me back with force.
"What's goin' on there, Mrs. Quiet" He laughed. And his gang joined in. Okay, first off, what type if bullying was that? That literally didn't make me feel bad at all. I was expecting to be called something worse. But hey, a pessimists life is filed with pleasant surprises.
I didn't respond, obviously. "If you don't speak up..." He glanced back at his friends and they nodded and smiled. "I'm gunna punch you!" He spat. This got me a little scared. He didn't do any emotional damage, but he's gunna punch me. I looked up at him and dropped my arms to the side, indicating I was ready for a punch. If he was gunna hurt me I didn't want him thinking I would be scared. Before I could even see him raise up his arm, his fist left a mark in my left side. The force brought me to the floor.
Shit. That hurt. I brought my left hand up to my face and tried to stop the tears already spilling out. The group laughed and walked away, one kicking my right side. The left side of my face was swollen and it stung. I tried really hard to not let the pain show.
I still had to walk to The Corner to get something to eat, there was no food at home.

Tyler's POVI arrived at The Corner just in time for my shift. It wasn't very eventful, just a usual day with usual customers. Until, that kid walked in. The one with the curly hair that never spoke. But... He had his hand over the left side of his face. He stepped right into line and glanced at the refrigerator section. My eyes stayed glued to him and I asked one of the other workers, Hannah, to cover the cash register for a second.
I walked around the counter and walked up to the boy. "Hey," I started. His eyes suddenly widened and he gave me an interesting look that I couldn't read. "Can I talk to you?" I asked. His head went over his right shoulder to look behind him, giving me a chance to look at why he was covering his face. There was a giant bruise that was red and dark. The sight caused me to gasp, making him turn back around. I shot him a reassuring smile, ignoring my gasp and waiting for an answer to my question. He shrugged his shoulders and nodded his head.
I told him to follow me to the back, allowing us a bit of privacy. "What's your name?" I quickly asked. He looked at me and held my gaze. What was he doing? I patiently waited, being sure to keep a smile on my face. There was something up with this guy, and if I can I want to help him. After a few more moments, he shook his head and pointed at me, raising his eyebrows. "My name?" I questioned. He nodded. "Oh. I'm Tyler." I cheerfully said, holding out a hand for him to shake. He paused, looking like he was deciding to trust me or not. In another moment, he lightly gave my right hand a shake.
"Why don't you talk?" I asked him. He just shrugged. "Oh... Alright." I said, making sure to stay perky. The left side of his face caught my full attention again. "What happened to your cheek?" I asked, sounding genuinely worried. He shrugged it off once again. I let a sigh slip out. "Do you not talk?" I asked, wanting him to talk to me. He nodded. "How about this," I paused, shifting my weight. "I give you my number, so we can talk about this whole situation." I offered. He paused once again, almost looking for something behind my eyes. I was able to look back into his, admiring the shade of blue. He gave a quick nod. I clapped my hands together and smiled. "Great!" I said, grabbing a small sheet of paper out of my back pocket. Luckily, I had a pen in my apron. I quickly jotted down my number and handed it to him. The corners of his lips slightly lifted and he made his way back to the line. I followed and excused Hannah from the cash register. I hope he would be okay, with not talking and his face and everything.
