Not your normal sleepover

"You lazy ass, why don't you help?" I huff, trying to pull the sheet over the bouncy mattress.
"I'm the guest." Leyla says matter-of-factly. I get up grabbing the cover sheet and look over to see Leyla sitting cross legged in my crumpled, purple sheets. She's throwing maltesers into the air and trying to catch them in her mouth.
She catches about one from ten.
I chuckle a little and throw the cover sheet over the nearly complete bed.
The last thing is the pillow which should be right over-
My train of thought is stopped when I turn around to be greeted by a pillow hitting my face.
Lovely, I know.
I hear Leyla burst out laughing and I don't hesitate to pick the pillow back up and chuck it back at her.
It hits her square in the face, cutting off her laughs.
I laugh as she gives me a piercing look.
"Oh bitch it's on!" She shouts, scuttling off my bed and throwing the pillow at my stomach, as I bend down to pick it up, another pillow hits me on the head.
I pick both of them up, throwing them right after each other, both hitting her in the face.
She's about to throw them when my mum calls us out for dinner, Leyla drops the pillow and bounds down the stairs.
Clearly she can smell the spaghetti bolognese and she's happier than a puppy getting its first bone.
"Hi Jarrod, Luke." She greets my brothers and slides into the seat next to Jarrod, I sit next to her as my mum sets the table.
"And the worlds best spaghetti maker." Leyla almost moans through a mouthful of bolognese.
"Attractive." My older brother says as he gets a forkful of bolognese and no spaghetti.
"Take a picture babe, it'll last longer." She retorts.
Jarrod and Leyla are actually good friends, once they'd gotten past the whole of year 7 and 8 for Ley when it was awkward. When Jarrod became a senior, the two became friends, now they're like siblings themselves, even though he's 19.
"I'll take a pic and show Darcy if you want." Jarrod teases.
"Like you could do that, you're awkward as hell." Leyla glares at him, slight pinkness in her cheeks.
Darcy Adams.
Leyla's prankster crush.
I like the guy, even if I doubt he even knows me, he's funny and nice, cute too, but Leyla likes him a lot.
Jarrod and I both laugh at her.
* * *
"Leyla would you hurry up." I complain as Leyla puts yet another forkful of spaghetti into her mouth, from what I think is her fourth bowl.
How does she eat more than me and still look like a twig?
"Patience young one." She says as she wipes her mouth.
Finally she gets up and dumps her bowl into the sink.
"Thank you for dinner Mrs F." She ruffles Lukes hair, "Bye Luke." Turning to Jarrod, she scowls and his face morphs into a devilish smirk, "I'll be sure to get a photo of you sleeping to send to Darcy."
"You do that." Leyla shoots back, along with blowing a kiss, Jarrod winks back and we head up the stairs.
"So, what are we going to watch?" I ask, a smile tugging at my lips, she glares at me, knowing that I'm suggesting a horror movie marathon.
"One," she holds up one finger, "One horror movie. I'm still recovering from our previous marathon.
"Fine." I say and pout teasingly.
We step into my room and she goes and grabs her pyjamas to get changed in the bathroom.
She walks out and I strip down, pulling on my plain black sweat pants and a black singlet that has a devil's trap on the front.
There's a knock on my door as I let my hair down from its braid, making it frizz all over my face.
"Come in." I answer, grabbing a brush and in comes Leyla, clutching her day clothes. Wearing light blue, owl flannelette pants and jacket, her straight hair is thrown in a messy bun and she looks like an angel.
"Quit staring at me Ali." I look away as she dumps her stuff on her bed and joins me on mine.
I made some popcorn while I was waiting for Leyla to finish dinner and at this moment she grabs the bowl.
I flick through my horror movies and settle, finally on, I think the only one I haven't forced Leyla to watch yet.
"What's this one called?" Leyla asks, I can hear the nervousness in her voice.
"The Exorcist." I reply back, smirking as she nods slightly, biting her bottom lip.
I join her and grab the red liquorice, popping one into my mouth and stretching it out, I look at Leyla as the movie begins. She's trying to act calm, breathing deeply, eating popcorn, humming quietly to herself, but as tough as Leyla is, she can't deal with horror movies.
I look at the screen and watch the first scene come up, trying not to focus on how intently Leyla is looking at the screen, as she clutches a pillow and eats away her fear.
It goes all quiet for a second in the movie and I know something is about to jump out on the screen, but before it can,
"Boo." I hear Jaydens sarcastic voice say, right in the window.
Leyla screams so loud my ears begin to ring and Jayden is just laughing his ass off.
Once Leyla has finished screaming and just registered what happened, she grabs her water bottle and squirts it at him, it splatters all over his face and runs down his shirt, not it's our turn to laugh.
"Oh, look at that," he says sarcastically, "you got me wet, do you want me to do the same for you?" He wriggles his eyebrows and Leyla pretends to puke.
"Ew, gross, I don't think so."
I hear his door open and a new voice, "dude why would she want you when she could have me?"
Leyla freezes next to me.
I recognise the voice then as Darcy Adams.
"I don't know, I'm hotter?" Jayden suggests, I walk over to the window and see three heads, Jaydens, a smirk on his face, Darcy, with his gorgeous blue eyes and his light brown hair falling into his face. There's also a tanned face, glimmering green eyes and golden brown hair, next to Darcy. I recognise him as the schools player and Darcy's best friend.
"Brad Watson?" I squeak out, more surprised than anything.
"And you are?" He asks, frowning a little.
Nice to know that even though I've gone to his school for three years and been in ten of his classes, he still doesn't know my name.
Jayden responds before I can, "Alicia Foster is the girls name."
Brad shrugs, "Pretty name for a pretty face."
Jayden smirks and I roll my eyes at them, before another head pops up next to Jaydens.
Bright green sparkling eyes, olive skin, chiselled jaw line, messy but stylish brown hair, that looks effortlessly perfect, thick red lips, pulled into a warm smile.
Callum Anderson, or should I say, Mr Popular.
"Alicia, Leyla, hey." He greets us, his smooth voice melting my heart.
Joking guys.
He's nice and hot, but so not my type.
We're just friends.
"Hey Callum, how's life?" Leyla asks, sitting on the window seat.
He grins widely at her, "Good, yours?"
She rolls her eyes at him, "You know, I'm not popular like you, so I'm going to go with the same shitty life I lead."
"Too bad, you deserve a good life." Darcy says, giving her a small smile.
She returns it before Jayden butts into the conversation, "What are you guys watching?"
Leyla shudders, "The Exorcist."
They all chuckle a bit, "That one isn't even scary." Jayden states.
I can't help myself from the words pouring out, "I know right, I don't get how people are scared of horror movies." I regret it as soon as I've finished speaking because suddenly they're all looking at me with wide eyes and open mouths.
I blink continuously at them until Jayden breaks the silence. "Wait, you're not scraed of horror movies?"
I laugh out loud, "Nope."
They all look impressed apart from Jayden, he looks like he doesn't believe me.
Something screams on the TV and Leyla screams at my side.
Everyone busts out laughing as she breaths in deeply and clutches her heart, trying to calm down.
"Shut up, all of you." She eyes us.
"Are you having a sleepover?" Darcy asks, straining to look into the room.
"Yes." Leyla says, breathing normally again.
"Can we join you?" Brad teases.
"No, sorry, only people with brains are allowed in here."
Wait, what?
Ugh, shit, I need to start thinking before I speak.
Fortunately, though, Brad is just looking at me, shocked and the others are laughing.
"I have a brain." Brad finally says back.
"Yeah, it's about the size of a pea." Darcy says, a teasing note to his voice.
"It's bigger than yours." Brad shoots back, Leyla and I laugh a little at their bickering.
"Anyway, enjoy that sleepover, we're gong out now." Jayden states, up until now has been talking to Callum.
"Are there girls where we're going?" Brad asks as Jayden slides on a leather jacket, making me bite down on my lip.
"Yes." Jayden answers, Brad frowns.
"Let me re-phrase that, are there hot, single girls?"
The other sigh.
"Yes Brad, of course there is." Brad nods his head goodbye to us, Leyla salutes and I wave.
"We'll try keep it down when we get back." Darcy says and winks as he closes the door after the others.
I sit down on the edge of my bed and watch as Leyla lies across her seat, smiling widely.
"He's so cute, I mean they're all cute, but there's just something about him." She tries to explain herself and her feelings and I smile at her struggle.
"Yeah, yeah, I get you." I say, she sits up and eyes me.
"Really, cause I'm not sure I get me." She gets up and looks around for something else to do, other than watch a horror movie, her eyes go wide as she picks up a case.
"Oh my God," she gasps, turning the disc around, revealing the cover of the game just dance 4, "I'm going to dominate you."
I raise my eyebrows at her, "Says the girl who loses to a ten year old."
"That was once." She exclaims as she slides the disc into my wii.
I get up and move some stuff out of the way to make room for our epic dance battle.
We look at each other as the first song comes on, Domino by Jessie J, the lyrics come up on the side as I break into the dance and Leyla screams the lyrics at the top of her lungs, not in tune at all.
Off in the distance I can hear Jayden, Darcy, Brad and Callum laughing.
* * *
"I so beat you." Leyla exclaims, collapsing on my bed, we ran out of songs to dance to, well actually, for the third time we ran out of songs.
I can't even master up enough strength to say something back, she looks at me and starts to laugh so I shoot her the middle finger and look at my clock.
12:00 am.
Time for a midnight snack.
I breathe in and out for a while and finally manage to catch my breath, "Do you want a midnight snack?" I ask Leyla and she nods her head eagerly, "Then admit that I won."
She rolls her eyes, "Ali, it's true. You beat me at just dance 4. Now can I please have a muffin?" I smile, feeling very accomplished and chuck her one of the giant choc chip muffins I hid in my desk drawer.
"Thank you Alicia, you are so kind." I look at her sideways,
"Stop it Ley, you're creeping me out."
"Sorry." She says, pouting as if she's begging for my forgiveness.
I laugh at her and she decides to throw a chocolate chip at me, surprisingly, I turn my head to the side and catch it in my mouth.
Her jaw drops, but she applauds me and I bow, she lies down on her stomach and looks in the DVD cupboard, I join her and eye down The Avengers.
"You want to look at some hot guys for a while?" I ask her, grabbing the disk.
"Who wouldn't?" She teases and I slip the disk in.
It's no surprise that in about half-an-hour of watching the two hottest Chris' I've ever seen, I doze off.
I wake to a girly giggle and a harsh shushing sound, I'm sure that it's just Leyla, so I tell her to shut up and I roll back over.
Then I feel a marker make connection with my forehead and my eyes shoot open.
Staring down at me in panic are two beautiful full brown eyes.
"What the fuck?" I shout and Jayden scrambles off my bed.
"You'll wake everyone up if you don't be quiet." He reasons, trying to hold in a laugh.
I sit up and turn my lamp on, I turn to the mirror.
On my face is a crooked drawn moustache and the words 'I love Jay' and I'm guessing the letter 'd' but it's extremely demented.
I turn to Jayden, rage consuming my body.
I notice Darcy is in here too, sitting on the mattress with Leyla, when he sees my look he gets up and heads straight to the window.
Jayden backs up to the window as well.
"You look good." He says, choking back a laugh.
"Yeah, you'll look good too, when I'm done with you." I shoot back and he grabs the window frame.
"Ohhh, getting all tough are we?" He teases.
I smile as sweetly as I can.
He throws one leg over the sill and then the other.
"You better run." I warn, with one final wink he jumps over to his own sill, "And don't come back." I yell after him and he disappears behind his window leaving sudden silence.
Leyla breaks it by breathing out deeply but jumps back when, suddenly, Martin Garrix bursts through at about a million decibels.
So, my hot new neighbour just drew a moustache on my face in the middle of the night and now he's playing the same music I listen to, on full blast.
Well, this is suddenly not your normal sleepover.
