"Babe, wake up."
I groaned at the sudden sound and continued to sleep.
"Kellin. I need you to wake up, love. I know you're tired, but you gotta get up." Vic said.
I slowly opened my eyes and turned towards him.
"Vic, you're awake." I soon realized.
"Yeah. I am." He chuckled. "Um, what happened?"
"Well, I was waiting for you to come pick me up from work, but an hour later you still hadn't showed up. I decided to walk home and when I got there, you were missing. I was going to get in the car to go look for you, but I found you passed out in the front seat with blood coming out of your head and mouth. I was terrified, so I called the police and now you're here." I told him.
"Woah." He said, trying to take it all in.
"Tell me about it." I groaned.
"I remember getting in the car to get you from work, but that's it." He sighed.
"Yeah, I figured. But I'm really glad you're okay." I smiled weakly. "I was traumatized."
"I'm so sorry, love." Vic frowned.
"It isn't your fault. I'm alright now." I rubbed my thumb along his knuckles. "I just missed you a lot."
He smiled and leaned forward to kiss my forehead. I could feel my cheeks heat up a little. In the small time that he had been asleep, I missed his presence and comfort a lot.
"Well, since I didn't get to ask you yesterday, how was work?" He asked.
"It was okay. Just a regular day." I told him.
"Well that's better than a shitty day." He smiled. "Shouldn't you be at work right now?"
"Yeah, but there's no way in hell I was gonna leave you here alone. I told your family and they didn't come, so that gave me even more of a reason to stay." I said.
"Oh." He said, a little sadly.
"It's okay, though. I'm the main one that matters and I haven't moved all night." I smiled softly.
He played with my hair as I rested my head in his lap.
"I love you." He told me.
"I love you, too. I'm so glad you're okay. I can't afford to lose you again." I admitted sadly.
"I know. I don't want to lose you either." Vic said.

Three weeks later, Vic was almost completely healed and was cleared from his doctor. The day he was taken into the hospital, I realized how much I loved and needed him. I felt the need to prove to him that I love him so very much. I made a significant effort to change myself for the better and for Vic. I wanted to be happy and I wanted to make him happy."Woah, woah, woah. Who's this shirtless cutie?" Vic asked one day when he walked out to the kitchen and met me without a shirt.
Inside, I felt like screaming, but I promised myself to stay calm for Vic. I knew I could be stronger about this and eventually get over my stupid fear.
I simply smirked without looking up and continued to make my breakfast.
He came up to me and rubbed circles in my lower back with his thumbs. "Whatcha makin'?" He asked.
It was obvious I was making French toast but I think he just wanted to be silly.
"French toast." I told him, simply.
