At school that day I couldn't get over the dream I had. I've never had any dreams like that before. I was probably just over worried about her. She did run away earlier that day. The dream meant nothing, right? Maddie couldn't be in any danger. But her face, it looked so- "Cecelia! Stop daydreaming and pay attention! Do you even know what we're working on?" I studied the board trying to figure it out.
"Fractions," I said. The class laughed.
"Cecelia, pay attention or you're going to the principal's office." Great, just what I needed. Actually, I thought , a trip to the school therapist would probably be better.
"Okay, I'm paying attention," I say and sigh. If only it wasn't so hard to concentrate right now.

When I got home later Maddie wasn't there. She probably went to Hana's, I tell myself, but I didn't believe it. I walked to Hana's house just to be sure. I rang the doorbell and waited, but nobody answered. I rang it again, and again. Still no answer. I try knocking just in case the doorbell broke. When I knock the door opens. "Maddie?" I call inside. No answer, "Maddie? Are you in here?" I say louder.
"Maddie's not here" I hear a small voice say. I recognized it. Hana.
"Hana, are you here alone?" I asked confused
"Yeah... Brooke didn't come home from school today." That was weird, I didn't even remember Brooke being at school.
"Why don't you come with me and help look for Maddie until someone comes here for you." My phone beeped. I had a text from Jake. 'C r u home?'
'No I'm at Hana's house looking for M. Y?'
'Cuz the police r there' That's not a good sign.
"Hana, C'mon let's go to my house," I called. She came through the door a few seconds later. We walked back to my house in silence. My jaw dropped open when I saw police tape. What's going on? I thought. I look around our yard until I found Jake. I started running toward him, Hana following behind me. A police man stepped in front of us.
"Whoa whoa whoa!" He said, "No ones allowed on this property."
"This is my house!" I exclaimed, "And that's my brother over there!" I ran past the policeman towards Jake, tears filling my eyes. Somehow I knew this had something to do with Maddie's disappearance. When I reached Jake I hugged him tight.
"Ce, calm down."
"Maddie-"
"Is alive." He interrupted. He saw my confused look and explained everything. "Someone broke into the house. Maddie thought it was you so she ran to the door when she noticed it wasn't you she ran away and hid in the bathroom cabinet. She's fine."
I shook my head, "No, I went home and Maddie wasn't there, neither were the police. Nothing looked broken... And where is Maddie?" I asked looking around.
