What is it about Maddie Davis?

Chapter 2

When we got to Lexi's house, Maddie came sprinting toward the car. Her pale, curly, blonde hair flowing behind her. She came up and hugged me right when she reached the car. When she let go I helped her get in the car we were about to leave when Jake got out and walked up to the house. Really? I thought, do you really need to flirt with Brittney right now? He was always flirting with her whenever he had the chance to. I wished I could drive at that moment. See how he'd like to be left here and walk home, I thought with a smirk.

After 15-20 minutes he finally came back to the car to drive us home. He was smiling the whole way home. "Oh, come on, Jake. She's never going to date you. If she was, she probably would've two years ago when you started flirting with her."

"Hey, now. Don't be a jerk. She just doesn't know she wants me yet." I roll my eyes.

"Suuure," I say with as much sarcasm as I can manage.

When we get home we talk to Maddie about how running all over town without telling someone is bad. Jake does most of the talking, he's always been good at that. He's always good at everything I'm bad at. He can look calm in the worst situations, He's always been better at explaining things too. He's everything I'm not. It annoys me so much.

I'm on my computer when I hear a high-pitched scream. Maddie, I think and get up immediately. I run down the hall towards the screaming. When I get to the kitchen I see Maddie. I breathe a sigh of relief, thinking she's fine. But then she turns and I see her eyes are puffy and red. Then, I see the blood. I scream. "Maddie! What happened?! Oh my God! Jake!"

"No, Ce. I'm fine calm down."

"Maddie! You're bleeding! Tell me what happened right now!"

"Ce, wake up!"

"What are you talking about I am awake!"

The room starts fading then, I'm suddenly in my room and Maddie's on top of me shaking me. It was just a dream and she was all right. I started crying and hugged her tight.
