The tributes from district 1 were not so scared of going in to the arena.
They weren't really happy either, but now they had to show the rest of their district what they can do.
They have to prove that they haved trained long enough to finally be in the games.

You see, all the career tributes, from 1 and 2, have trained their whole lifes to be prepared for the day when they would eventually go into the arena.
They had to prove that they actually could survive in the games.

Their plan was to get the blood bath started as their district usually do in the games.
Neither Marvel or Glimmer had any trouble killing someone and even if they did. It still wouldn't be the first time.

Marvel was a skilled swordsman, but his weapon of choice from the Cornucopia would be a spear. Sure he was good with swords too, but it was almost as if he had been throwing spears since he could walk. Maybe that's how it was. Nobody actually knows anything about Marvels background so it is definitly possible. Besides, he is a career tribute after all.

Glimmer on the other hand would choose a bow and arrows as her weapon of choice. She just randomly chose it during the training session and it was one of the very few times she actually used a bow and she was already the best from her district at archery.

They both enjoyed the training session and used all of their free time to train and fight.

Marvel and Glimmer had known each other since kindergarden and at first, Marvel used to make fun of Glimmer for having her blonde hair in two separate fishtail braids, but she always had her hair that way. It made it easier when she was training.

Marvel had secretly had a crush on Glimmer since two years back when she was dared to kiss him on the cheek in a game of truth or dare.
What he didn't know was that Glimmer had felt something too. She wouldn't really consider it a crush, no. She just liked him differently, plus, she and the male tribute from district 2 had started something on their own and the worst part was that Marvel knew about it.

They continued their seven days of training until it came to the individual once were they had to show their skills one last time to the gamemakers before they went in to the arena.

Glimmer easily picked up the bow and the arrows and shot them all straight into the heart of the human sized target.
The gamemakers applaused and she left, turning around with a confident smile on her face.

Marvel felt confident as well. Both during the individual training and after.
He threw the spears, on by one and hit the target in the middle.
The gamemakers applaused once again, this time some of them standing up. As he walked out, he felt cocky and couldn't help but being cocky against Glimmer.
Glimmer didn't mind. She liked cocky guys and now she started to feel a bit cocky as well.
They took one last glance at each other before turning around, walking to their rooms.

They both scored nine points each and that was really high. There were only tw other tributes who had higher scores than them.
The male from 2 and the female from 12.
She was their first target from now.

Tomorrow they had their interviews and they knew that they had already made some sponsors.

Glimmer made her way up on stage as soon as the host, Ceasar Flickerman, had called out her name.
She walked with a huge smile on her face and waved at the audience.

Both she and Marvel had gotten scripts from their mentor.

On Glimmers, it said that she should be feeling confident and very prepared.
That was part of the truth, but she felt a little scared too. Just a little.

The interview got along well and soon Marvel was up on stage with Ceasar.
He felt confident, but his thoughts were on Glimmer.
He just couldn't stop thinking about her, but he hid his soft side really well since Ceasar didn't ask him anything about his "love life".

As the interview ended, the audience stood up and applaused and Marvel raised his fists in the air, feeling success.

It was the last day before the games and probably the last chance for both of them to tell each other how they felt.

Sure, they would be able to meet each other in the arena, but they would never be alone.
They had already made an alliance with the tributes from district 2.
