As I pull up into the Pacific Northwest Ballet parking lot, I take a deep breath and and pull down the mirror in my car. I quickly throw my wavy blonde hair up in a sloppy ballet bun and hairspray the flyaways down. I put a little bit of concealer, mascara, powder, and blush on leaving me 5 minutes to get inside the studio. Times like this I'm thankful I only live a block away from the studio.
"This is a new record!" I sarcastically exclaim while pulling out my keys and grabbing my bag. I lock the doors to my white Honda Civic and power walk inside the studio.
I'm greeted by Charlie waiting anxiously by the door.
"Thank goodness your here!" She grabs my hand and leads me into the studio. I sigh when I find Blaire my biggest competitor standing at my lucky spot at the barre.
"Sorry I didn't get here in time to grab your spot," Charlie apologizes.
"It's fine," I smile. When we get to our spot at the barre set my bag down, pull out my flat shoes and slide them on. Then I take out my pink leg warmers and pull them onto my injured foot. I've always had ankle issues, especially now since I'm dancing more then usual. I scootch my bag aside and start warming up my feet when he walks in. I stop what I'm doing and look at Charlie wide eyed.
"What!" She exclaimed.
"Look." I nod over to the door and she looks at him and thinks for a moment before realizing who he is. I turn my back away from the door hoping he won't see me.
"Does my bun look fine?" I whisper.
"For doing it in 5 minutes, yes," she laughs. I sigh and keep doing my calf stretches before I feel a cold hand on my shoulder. I jump and look behind me seeing him. Dang it.
"Hey Juliet!" He exclaimed.
"Oh hi William!" I say back. William has been my crush forever. We dated when we were 11 and 16 but I've never gotten over him.
"How are you?"
"I'm great! What are you doing here?"
"Well they asked me if I wanted to be in the professional division here and of course I said yes."
"Awesome!"
"I know right! I would've told you but I wanted it to be a surprise." I giggle and try to hide how happy yet mad I am to see him. Of course he comes on the worst day possible! I can see Charlie smirking as she listens to us.
I turn towards Charlie and say,
"William this is Charlie, and Charlie this is William." They both laugh and shake hands.
"Is this your friend?" William asks.
"Oh yeah! I've known her since my first summer course at PNB!" I say.
"Wow!" He chuckles. We all look over when we see the the artistic director walk in telling us it's time for class.
"Do you want to stand here?" I ask.
"Sure! Thanks!" William smiles and starts getting ready for class and Charlie starts giggling at what I justify got myself into.
I take a deep breath and try to focus besides the fact the my crush/ew-boyfriend is standing right behind me.
