A Challenge After Practice

The girls could barely hold together their excitement as the school day ended the next day. They were quick to head to the locker room and change into their swimsuits. AC stayed by the pool while the girls stretched and grinned at the pool.

"I'm doing it without y'all!" Mason yelled before she dove into the water as the boys walked to the pool. Nagisa watched intently as she moved her feet like a mermaid before breaking the surface. She grinned and looked at them. "Come on!" She said, giggling. Nagisa was quick to smile and tear off his shirt before he dived into the pool. Mason squealed as he swam to her and grabbed her hips. He broke the surface and laughed with her before staring intently at her. Their stare was broken as the others jumped into the pool. AC moved to the side and sat down with her feet in the water. Rei swam up to her and smiled warmly at her as he held onto her legs.

"You're okay sitting here, right?" He asked to which she smiled and nodded, pushing his wet hair out of his face.

Ryan swam around and did a little flip under the water before she popped back up and bumped into Makoto.

"Oh! Sorry Makoto!" She said, smiling sheepishly. Makoto smiled at her and wrapped his arms around her.

"It's alright, Ryan." He said softly as she blushed up at him. She smiled at him and leaned back against him, kicking her legs gently in the water.

Emily sighed softly with a smile as she floated on her back. She started to put her foot down and it gently bumped into something. She looked down and saw Haru at the bottom of the pool, sitting there. She breathed in loudly and went down, sitting beside him. She smiled softly at him and waved as he slowly smiled softly at her. They both popped back up and Emily laughed softly at him.

"Alright! I think we can begin practice!!" Rei said as he grinned.

The girls worked on each of their types of swimming with help from each boy. They also worked on shooting off into the pool. After a long two hours, they were swimming faster and faster as AC watched them with a small smile. They popped up and went to sit on the side with AC. Ryan stretched and sighed softly.

"Swimming is so much fun and yet takes so much work." She said as she leaned back on her hands. The girls nodded as they slightly panted. As AC started to open her mouth, Rin ran to the girls, panting softly.

"Rin?" Mackenzie asked, standing up and going to him. He looked at her and straightened up.

"Guys...there are girls from my school coming to-" He was cut off by the doors opening. The rest of them stood and looked at four girls. One blonde headed girl frowned deeply and walked towards the girls, two brunettes following on either side of her before a red head quickly followed the three. The red head tilted her head and waved to the girls with a big smile.

"So you're the girls who have decided to make a girls' swim team at Iwatobi." The blonde glared at them. "We did that first. You aren't allowed to just copy us."

"Yeah! We're the only girls' team!" One brunette said.

"You can't be another one!" The other stated.

"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!! It's nice to meet you!" The red head yelled as she waved at the girls. Mason stepped forward to the four girls.

"I can assure you...we didn't mean to 'copy' you guys. We had no idea that there was another girls' team. We just wanted to make a team to do something we love..." She said softly.

"Even if that is the case, we still can't have you thinking that just because you've made a team doesn't mean that we aren't the best." The blonde said with a cocky smirk. Emily clenched her fists and stepped forward.

"How incredibly selfish! We could swim circles around you and you wouldn't even know because your heads would be filled with your cocky attitudes and selfish thoughts!" She yelled, causing the other girls gasp. Ryan grabbed Emily's arm to pull her back but it was too late for that.

"We know we're the best!! We can prove it to you tomorrow! Meet us at our school tomorrow and we'll do a relay race to see just who is the best." The blonde snapped. The girls turned and headed for the door as the others watched. When the girls from the other school left, Mackenzie whipped around to Emily.

"What the hell were you thinking?" She asked.

"What? They can't talk to us that way! We're gonna do great tomorrow!" Emily told her, crossing her arms.

"We've only had one day of practice, Emily!" Ryan protested as the boys and two other girls watched the three bicker.

"Hey!" Mason said, causing everyone to pause and look at her. "It doesn't matter what she did. She's done it and it's going to happen so we need to prepare for it." Nagisa moved beside her and smiled brightly.

"Yeah!! Let's get back to swimming!" He said, causing the three girls to glance at each other before reluctantly getting back in the water.
