Dorothy
CRASH! My door hit the wall. My once sparkly shoes now looked dull and burned my feet. I looked down, red blisters lined my ankles. At least they matched the color of my shoes, I thought. I slowly walked into the center of my quarters. Astrid followed behind pulling on the hem of her emerald dress. The pulling was useless it still exposed most of her thighs. Astrid wasn't like the other maids. When she stepped into my room her eyes didn't dazzle at how impressive my room appeared, instead her eyes floated to the painting of a willow tree that could show you anything you wanted to see. I got a bad feeling about her.
Astrid saw me staring and instantly looked down at her muddy flats. Just like the ones I used to own in Kansas with Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, I sighed and almost smiled looking back on the memories. When the torching from my shoes began to crawl up to my head. I barked ¨Hurry!" I yank my tight fitting checkered dress over my head and onto the floor. It disappeared through the floorboards in a matter of seconds. I strolled over to my closet, but Astrid stepped between me and closet. Maybe she wanted to get the dress for me... That's what maids are for. "I want something that's short - the shorter the better, lots of sequins, and shiny. But don't let it overpower my shoes" I snapped.
ZIP! I looked up from glimmering five-inch heels at Astrid. She smirked at me. All of a sudden Astrid's petite lips starting growing into a two big balloons. Then her curling cinnamon hair changed into short, choppy, bright pink colored hair. Suddenly I realized in her bruised hands she held a shiny kitchen knife. "What..." I mumbled.
¨Hello, Dorothy Gale,¨ Fake-Astrid sneered. Her knife sliced for my face, but I turned in time that she only made a cut above my eyebrow. My fingers tossed in the air and a electric purple spark flew through my body. It distracted Astrid for a second while I ran out the door wearing my old blue and white checkered dress. I sprinted back to the Ozians, back to the Tin Man murders, back to my kingdom. Another knife hissed past my arm leaving an open gash in it's place. Not only was I now injured badly, but the the brat's knife angled me to unknown metallic stairs. I stumbled up them. Usually I could sprint pretty well in heels, but with everything happening my legs wobbled like Jello.
Round, and round, and round we climbed. By the time I reached the door my heels ached and I was out of breath. I raced out onto a big cement roof. "I'm trapped," I buzzed under my breath. I looked across the horizon and saw The Emerald City glowing in all of it's glory. It wasn't beautiful. It was marvelous. As "Astrid" stepped onto the roof I could tell who she was now. "Amy, right? The one that saved the dumb monkey," I gave her a syrupy smile thrusting all the mean comments down my throat. Amy didn't reply. "Isn't my kingdom beautiful? I come up here everyday to stare down at all my hard work," I lie. Maybe Amy will take the bait.
"Shut up you never cared about building Oz for the better. You only wanted the power," she shouts over the harsh wind. The door opens wide; Tin soldiers march out of the building.
"My lady, we are here!" the Tin Woodman confidently says.
"My hero," I squeak, hoping he can forgive me for the accident that happened earlier. He seems to as a smile spreads across his metal face and his cheeks change bubblegum pink. Amy stares at us, her shoulders pulled back. "Kill her," I kindly yell at the Tin Man. He steps forward pulling out a golden axe and starts swinging at Amy's head. Amy twirled, flipped, and sprinted around the roof gracefully making sure that the Tin Man wouldn't brush her freckled skin. Then before I could even think twice Amy stabbed the Tin Woodman in the eye. "Kill the useless rat!" I screamed furiously. Amy somersaulted through the Tin Man's legs and now I was unprotected. The Tin Soldiers looked around wondering where Amy went, but it was too late. Amy ran to me arms out wide and pushed both of us off the roof.
Screeches and screams came from above while Amy and I wrestled in the air. A boy tossed a pistol at Amy, she caught it, and aimed at my heart... The weirdest thing happened when that bang went off. It went right through my stomach, like I was a ghost, like I was zombie... Like I was invisible. Then all of a sudden, my shoes starting to burn against my heels and my skin tingled with magic. I knocked my heels together letting a bomb of jittery taffy pink explode in the air. My magic was back, I could finally defeat this punk. I was lifted in the air, floating on pink dust several feet above the ground. Amy was falling through the sky, she couldn't do magic. I started to laugh.. maybe even giggle a little. She thought she could beat me and she doesn't even know how to do magic. I looked down wishing I had a bucket of popcorn and a large Pepsi to go with this fascinating movie.
Suddenly, two flying monkeys caught Amy by her arms and started flying her towards me. "What are you doing?!? You should've let her fall! I refuse to fight her. Get back to your posts stupid monkeys!" I screamed at my employees. The monkeys rotated in the air to show me they had no wings, just two rusty hangers pushed into where they had chopped off their wings. They weren't my employees they were traitors.
"Get guns, cannons, and spears! Shoot those monkeys down!" I roared at all the Tin Soldiers. The monkeys were flying higher and higher. On the ground a torpedo of emerald smoke rose in the air. It was the wizard, here to save me! "OH WIZARD!! UP HERE!" I cheered. In a second, he was by my side, I tightly embraced him.
"Dorothy I cannot breathe, and the monkeys are gaining," he quietly whisperd.
"Sorry." Tears pouring down my rosy cheeks.
"You're scared," he answered. The tears stopped. I slapped him. "Told you," He smartly replied.
"Are you going to help me or not?"
"Don't trust anyone," he answered. Out of nowhere, the monkeys started clawing at me, yanking my hair, and kicking me like we were playing a game of soccer. My magic was gone and I was tumbling toward the ground again, canons and gunshots filled my ears.
"DOROTHY MUST DIE!!" I heard tall strong voices shout. I hit the ground with bullet holes everywhere on my body. My dress ripped to tiny pieces and claw marks on my face. I couldn't feel the pain anymore, I was numb. A pink blur was suddenly above me.
"Oh, Dorothy!!" A high voice sang, it was Glinda.
"How does it feel to die?" I mumbled.
"Silly, you can't die... At least I don't think you can," She said uncertainly, "You're queen, you won't die!"
"Glinda goodbye," I cough and everything turns black.
Amy
She died. But how? She was queen. It didn't make sense. "THE WITCH IS DEAD!!" The Ozians sang loudly, they lifted me into the air with their magic.
"HUSH! Dorothy has been murdered and her trustworthy citizens don't even care! What about a funeral? You should be crying and sobbing not celebrating and cheering!" Glinda screams and then sweetly giggles as if she has realized something. "You never liked me or Dorothy! TRAITORS!! Go back to the party," She orders.
"We will not be taking orders from you or Dorothy!" I protest, "You were never the Good Witch!" I run after her with my knife but before I can touch skin she twists my wrist. I concentrate. Fire bubbles above my skin and I think of stabbing Glinda right in the heart. Glinda is still there. But instead of a bubble gum pink dress it's now blood red. She falls to the ground gasping for breath.
"AMY THE QUEEN!" The magic citizens applause bounces off the walls of the tall buildings. They yank Dorothy's crown off her head and place it onto my messy hair.
It's been years since Dorothy and Glinda's death. The magic has been given back to the people, the monkey's can fly freely, and Oz is beautiful and bright. The Tin Woodman, Lion, and Scarecrow have been locked up. I am thinking about returning home to my mother but I think she is better off without me now. I don't plan on being queen forever... Maybe The Wizard and I could switch positions, it seems fun decorating and building Munchkin houses. But for now I have Nicole to deal with... The new girl from Kansas.
