  Still Lia's POV:
"W-what do you mean?  I dropped her off this morning. I saw her go in the school with my own eyes!"

"Miss Boyer, I am positive she was not in class today.  We left a message for you father but we got no response."

She had to be kidding!  I made sure to drop her off after dad yelling at me!  Oh my God...what is she got kidnapped...or ran away...or-

"M-miss? Are you okay?  Would you like us to contact the police?  I'm afraid  that we assumed she was home sick and your dad just didn't receive the message."

If they call the police, he'll find out.  If dad finds out, he'll kill me.  "No, it's fine. I'm sure there was just a miscommunication. I'll check with my father.  She might have stayed home and went somewhere. She's done this before."  Ha. Lying is so easy for me.

The secretary nods, says something to her walkie talkie, and left me to ponder what happened.

I know what happened. She must have heard dad yelling at me last night. I thought I'd heard footsteps but I thought nothing of it. This is all my fault. If I wasn't such a failure she wouldn't have to deal with this!

I drive slowly back home and park the car at the beginning of the street and walk to my house. Hoping that my dad won't notice me, I climb up the tall oak tree into my room where I grabbed my laptop, cellphone, charger,  my bus pass, $100, and a photo of me and Macy.

I sneak back out my window, being carful not to make a sound but when I hit the ground from coming out of the tree, something grabs me. It's hands wrap around my mouth as it pins me to the cold ground.

My dad. He's going to find out. He's going to kill me. He's going to yell.

But no... This wasn't my dad. The hands were too small. They were almost kid sized. I began to panic more, refusing to open my eyes to meet my enemy.  But eventually I do. I scanned the things appearance and screamed. BEN... No he wasn't real. This is my stupid imagination. I'm hallucinating.

But no. This was real.

"You've meet with a terrible fate, haven't you?"

I screamed once more until I blacked out
