Grant stood waiting in the hallway outside Gryffindor tower and leaned against a wall as he waited for Skye. His eyes followed the numerous couples come pouring out of the door, but not a single one of them was Skye.
"She'll be out in one moment," said a small blonde girl to him as she walked past him, "she's just finishing getting ready."
He nodded his thanks and smiled as the young girl blushed and quickly walked away.
He turned his head and was met with the sight of an all of the sudden very mature looking Skye.
His eyes traveled down her figure as he gaped at her appearance. She was wearing a royal blue strapless dress that went down to the floor. It was adorned in small flecks of glitter here and there and across the waist, it had a braided silver belt. He looked at her face and noticed how different she looked, instead of her normal, "I don't care about my hair so I'm jut going to throw it in a sloppy ponytail," hairstyle, strands of her hair from both sides of her head were taken and brought to the back where they were joined together with a rubber band and a small flower tucked in it. The rest of her hair was resting on her shoulders, curled at the end.
He quickly snapped his jaw shut when he realized that he had been staring at her for quite some time. He shook his head and smiled at her, "you look stunning."
She blushed and looked at her toes, "thank you, you look very handsome yourself."
He sent a small smile her way, still too breath taken with her beauty to offer much more than that.
He held out his arm and she linked her's with his as they walked through the corridors and down to the Great Hall.
"Kara it looks amazing down here," Grant said to his friend as he and Skye met her just outside the entrance to the Great Hall.
"Thanks," she replied, proud of her decorating work, "you don't think it's too much do you?"
Skye smiled, "are you kidding? It's gorgeous!"
"So are you! Look at you Skye! I barely recognize you!"
"You like?" Skye teased as she brushed her hair off her shoulder.
Kara nodded, "you look beautiful."
"Thank you Kara, so do you."
Kara looked down at her simple yet elegant green gown. It had one strap across one of her shoulders and the dress went down to about her knees. Her hair was pinned to one side of her head and the rest of her hair spilled down her shoulders, making an already beautiful girl even prettier.
"Thanks Skye."
"So who's your date tonight?" Skye asked excitedly.
"It's a surprise," Kara smirked as she headed towards the Great Hall, "I won't keep you any longer, I know you have to enter with the rest of the champions."
Skye's eyes widened as Kara said that and she turned to Grant frantically, "Grant! The champions and their dates have the first dances!"
"Yes they do..." he replied, not sure where the conversation was heading.
"That means everyone will be watching us."
"Everyone watches you when you play Quidditch, what's any different?"
"I can't dance!" she said, nearly panicking.
"Hey hey hey," he said slowly as he grabbed her hands, "it'll be ok. All you have to do is follow my lead. It's easy."
She looked up at him, still uneasy at the thought of dancing in front of the entire student body, "are you sure?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Of course."
"Then yes," he replied as he took her hand and led her into the room when the champions marched in, "I'm sure."
