Next day…
I woke up an hour earlier than I usually do. After showering, I picked my outfit for the day: navy blue tube dress that reaches down to my knees, has “snowflake” patterns and white linings on top; white cardigan; laced up boots (with one inch heels); and a brown, cream and dirty gold mixture of a flower-designed scarf. I also have mascara, pink lipbalm and powder for makeup, my hair down with cream colored rose clip for my bangs.
I went down for breakfast and everyone complimented me, said I was blooming. Oh really?
Then I went to school and quickly went to my locker. “Hi you’re early!” I said when I saw Talia. “You too! And look at you, so beautiful! If he doesn’t gawk at you-in a good way, of course- then he’s gay.” She said, and we said goodbye to each other.
“Hey! There you-are…” I turned around and saw Daemon in his handsome glory. “You, um, *ehem* look nice today. No! I mean, yeah you look nice, but um, hehe, what I’m trying to say is, um, you look beautiful.” Daemon stuttered? Seriously? And he’s blushing. Definitely I also am.
“Thank you! You look great, too.” I returned the compliment.
“Well, Ma Cherie, Let’s go, shall we?” he offered me his arm. I giggled, accepted it, and we walked to the auditorium and chose a place to practice comfortably.
Then, it was the start. Ms. Hendrix complimented all of us because she could see we all were prepared. Unfortunately, we didn’t know who comes next, so it made us very nervous. Some did different things; others acted, others did a couple’s dance, acting of a poem, and etc.
I felt someone squeeze my hand reassuringly. “Hey don’t worry, you’ll do great! You’re gonna stun all of them, promise.” Daemon said.
“Hey, give some credit to yourself too! WE will blow them away. And who would’ve thought that the resident bad boy gets to be the comforting and sweet guy?”
He laughed. “Me either.”
Turns out we were the last to perform. We gave Ms. Hendrix our CD, went up the stage and got our mics.
“Hi I’m Harmony Abrams” “and I’m Daemon Heathers” “And we’re going to sing ‘Endless Love’ by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie.” Many cheered for us, and Ms. Hendrix smiled at our song choice. Then the music started.
(HIM): My love,
There's only you in my life
The only thing that's right
Daemon’s smooth voice opened the song, and it was my turn.
(HER): My first love,
You're every breath that I take
You're every step I make
And we let ourselves be lost in singing. Completely forgetting everyone else.
(HIM): And I
(HER): I-I-I-I-I
(HIM): I want to share
(BOTH): All my love with you
(HIM): No one else will do...
(HER): And your eyes
(HIM): Your eyes, your eyes
(BOTH): They tell me how much you care
Ooh yes, you will always be
My endless love
(BOTH): Two hearts,
Two hearts that beat as one
Our lives have just begun
(HER): Forever
(HIM): Ohhhhhh
(BOTH): I'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms
(HER): And love
(HIM): Oh, love
(BOTH): I'll be a fool
For you, I'm sure
(HER): You know I don't mind
(HIM): Oh, you know I don't mind
(BOTH): 'Cause you,
You mean the world to me, Oh
(HER): I know
(HIM): I know
(BOTH): I've found in you
My endless love
(HIM): Oooh-woow
(BOTH): Boom, boom
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom
(BOTH): Oooh, and love
(HIM): Oh, love
(BOTH): I'll be that fool
For you, I'm sure
(HER): You know I don't mind
(HIM): Oh you know-
(BOTH): I don't mind
(BOTH): And, YES
You'll be the only one
'Cause NO one can deny
This love I have inside
And I'll give it all to you
(HIM): My love
(HER): My love, my love
(BOTH): My endless love
We ended the song while looking at each other’s eyes. If it wasn’t for the crowd’s applause, our little staring contest won’t end.
We hugged each other and many cheered at us loudly. Then we went off stage.
“I’m so proud of all your performances. But one duet really has stood out, and it was dear Harmony and Daemon’s duet! Congratulations, both of you will receive a high grade for this activity. Don’t worry everyone, all of you still has their own additional grade based on performance. So, that’s it! Class dismissed.” And we all went out the auditorium.
I was about to go to Talia, when suddenly someone grabbed my hand, which stopped me. It was Daemon.
I smiled at him. “Hey. We did a good job!”
“Yeah, I told you!” he said and we both laughed.
“So, about that girl?” I leaned in curiously.
“You’ll know her soon enough. “ He smirked. “Daemon! That’s rude.” I said.
“Haha, I really had a great time with you, Ma Cherie, hope it’ll happen again.
“Hopefully.”
“So, see you at lunch later, okay?” and with a final wink, he walked away.
I stared at his retreating back, until someone tapped me on my shoulder.
“OHMYGOD! You two look perfect together! And I don’t care if you’re annoyed at me for saying it all the time.” It was Talia.
I blushed, trying to hide it in vain. “Oh, um, thanks?”
“Let’s head to class now, shall we?”
And with that we walked away, me hoping that lunch would come faster.
END.
