Honestly, I couldn't wait till the end of the day. I finally have plans beside our dumb movie nights while I just watch my best friends sucking faces.
Last class seemed to go on forever. Stupid history. Who cares about dead people? The teacher blabbed on about WWII while my phone buzzed in my pocket.
I looked around to see if anyone around me heard the vibrations of my phone onto the seat. Thankfully, no one did. I hated everyone in class and I rather not get into any conversations with them.
Of course. The group chat...
Melanie 💕: Oh my Ellie...
Ellie 🐳: You're a little late... apple and I got plans now. Right after this lesson on WWII.
Melanie 💕: Have fun! 😋
I begin to slip my phone in my pocket. Buzzzzzz!!! This time it wasn't from the group chat. It wasn't even from Kik. Someone texted my number which was strange since no one has my number.
Blocked...
Stay away from April... If I find out you hurt her... I'm coming after you.
What the hell...
I deleted the message from my phone and tried forgetting what happened even though it felt impossible. Why wasn't I allowed to hang out with her? Is this a prank? Who sent the message?
"Ellie... Please tell me what I just said while you were off in lala land."
Shit.... I couldn't focus. I just looked blankly at her hoping she would just accept my silent apology and move on. Obviously, she didn't.
"I'm waiting Ellie...." she said impatiently tapping her foot.
I looked around-- desperate for help.
"Dolphins," said the kid who sat beside me.
"DOLPHINS!" I shouted out.
"Ms. Morton, we are most definitely not talking about dolphins. If you were paying attention, you would know that everyone was taking out their atlases. Please get your head out of the clouds and focus." she spat.
I roll my eyes and take out my atlas. Our work was easy. Only four questions. Done. Done. Done. And done. I sat quietly at my desk looking at the clock hoping it would move faster.
After about ten minutes of waiting, the bell rang and I quickly rushed out the class before my teacher could have a talk with me about focusing.
Got to find April. I completely disregarded the message. I finally have plans other than movie night and I'm not letting anything get in my way.
I walked out the heavy doubled doors with students all stampeding out. Outside of the schools, people formed clusters of gossip groups. Under the big oak tree in front of the school sat April. She was taking pictures.
As I walk over, April notices me and gives me a quick smile and stand up with her camera close to her chest.
Her hair looked great in the bright sun. Her red highlights we gorgeous and I kinda wished I could pull it off as well as her. Her hair seemed to almost cover her eyes which was one of the most stunning parts about her. It would always change to either blue or slightly more greenish.
Sure Violet, Scarlet, Sammy, and Melanie were pretty too but nothing compared to April.
"Since I'm kinda new, I'm down to wherever you want to go." she said seeming really hyped up.
"Hmmm.... Let's go to the coffee shop. Then we should go to the park. Sound good to you?"
"Sure!"
I led April over to the car I got for my birthday. Wasn't the best but at least I could go wherever I wanted.
During the drive there, we were listening to Fall Out Boy and telling each other jokes that wouldn't even make sense. For this being the first day or meeting her, it felt as if I knew her better than all my other friends.
The coffee shop wasn't that different either. She would laugh at all my jokes and I would laugh at hers even though most weren't funny.
"So... before I came and got you, you were taking pictures. Mind if I see?" I said eyeing the camera case that she had put on the corner of the table.
"In your dreams... haha just kidding. Umm... I guess.." She opening up the case and turning it on.
She let me see a few pictures of her time in Disney world and other places that I don't know but none were of her. She took lots of pictures of other people.
"Why don't you take any pictures of yourself...?" I said very hesitant.
She was silent for a moment and looked up. "I don't know... Just has been kinda like a tradition of mine. Hey, smile! I want a picture so I can always remember this moment."
I smiled trying to get my coffee in the picture thinking it would be artsy.

At the park, we had a blast. We pet dogs, we talked about how she wanted to become a photographer, she took lots of candid pictures of me, and we got ice cream. So much better than being the spare tire.
After the long day, I dropped April at her house and I went home and watched TV. I didn't feel like doing the homework so I just pretended like it didn't exist.
I didn't feel like texting the groupchat just yet so I put it on mute to have a little just me time.
Buzzzz!!!
It couldn't be the group chat. Maybe it was just my mom asking me about dinner. I walked into the kitchen to get my phone.
Blocked number...
