When it comes time for us to travel to France, I take care of all the preparations. Tonks turns her hair blonde to blend in. We Floo into the house of Monsieur Alamos, a French barkeep who Tonks has worked with before. He gives us a suite to stay in at his little hotel.

Right away, I can tell that it is no Leaky Cauldron. There are two beds and a couch, but they don't look like they came from the dumpster. There's a large window on a wall with a bench under it. A dresser sits beside the couch, across from the beds. Beautiful paintings line the walls.

I've never stayed in any hotel other than the Leaky Cauldron. Don't get me wrong, the Leaky Cauldron is a dump, but it's everyone's favorite dump.

"What's this place called?" I ask Tonks.

She raises an eyebrow. "Monsieur Alamos doesn't speak very good English. I think he said something about, uh, Eesy 'Iffing."

"Easy Sniffing?" I suggest, laughing.

Tonks chuckles, and so does Remus. "Easy Lifting?"

"Breezy Gifting!" Remus cries, looking proud of himself. "Or Easy Shuffling?"

I've haven't seen my godfather so calm and relaxed in years. He acts as if he hasn't a care in the world.

Tonks smirks. "You should learn French, Remus! Then we could understand all the people here!"

"There should be a spell for that." Remus muses.

We talk some more, and unpack. Tonks has an over abundance of gangly jewelry. She says she likes gaudy jewelry because it's different and unique. Different and unique pretty much sum Tonks up.

That night, Tonks takes us out to supper at a Muggle restaurant. It serves fancy seafood like lobster. "My treat." She tells us as we get our drinks. "And Remus, if you try to pay, I will tell everyone in this restaurant that you still sleep with a stuffed animal."

Remus throws up his hands in surrender. "Chivalry is dead."

Tonks rolls her eyes. "Of course not, but let me pay for once in my life. I actually have a steady job, and money now!"

"Hear, hear!" Remus cries, raising his glass. Tonks cheers and clinks her glass with his.

The waiter comes and asks what we want. The only available items are fish and lobster. I don't like either one, and neither does Remus.

"What do you want?" Tonks asks us. She's so happy to be taking us out.

Remus throws me a cautious look. "I'll take the lobster." He says, smiling up at the waiter.

"Uh, me too." I mumble, closing my menu.

Tonks grins toothily up at the waiter. "Hell, so will I!"

He nods and walks away, clearly disturbed by Tonks's cheerfulness.

"So Aria," Tonks says. "I've done my part of the vacation. What's the plan?"

I smirk. "Well, after we eat, we're gonna go see the fireworks on the pier. Then we'll go home and sleep. Tomorrow we're gonna go see that fancy art museum and laugh at the paintings, and then go shopping because I didn't get you guys presents yet. Friday, that's Christmas Eve, so we've gotta do something fun. So we're going ice skating. On Christmas, we can do whatever we want."

"You have this really planned out." Remus says.

I shrug. "How often do we get to go on vacation?"
