My heart drops when I walk in to the lunchroom. I can hear my heart beating in my chest. As I a gaze around the lunchroom filled with jocks, nerds, preppy's, and emo's my eyes land on the table with Calum, Ashton, and of course Luke. My body fills with panic. As I think of a way out of this, I turn to Michael.
"Hey, Michael, it's okay. I am more than fine with eating by myself. There's no need for me to interfere with you guys' lunch."
He scoffs of rolls his eyes.
"Relax Luna. They aren't going to mind you being there. What are you so afraid of?"
Oh you know, just acting like a complete  idiot in front of my crush that doesn't even know who I am. That's all. I sigh and mutter nothing under my breath. As we get closer my heart starts beating louder and louder. Michael  walks ahead of me, leaving me inching my way over to their table. He motions for me to sit down beside him. I reluctantly plop myself beside him and stare intently at the gray top of the table. I force myself to look up. Across from me I see Luke staring me down and Calum and Ashton laughing at some video on their phones. Michael clears his throat and makes it known that he is there.
Calum and Ashton look up from whatever video they were watching.

"Oh, hey Mike," Ashton says. He shifts his warm, hazel eyes towards me and my anxiety flares.

"Who is this lovely lady, Mike?" he asks, not helping my stress level.

"This,' Michael grins like a kid at a fair,' is Luna. We kind of ran into each other this morning and then talked through science and she pretty cool."

He looks back at me and nods. Feeling the pressure to talk I force a smile at say hey very shyly. Calum starts cracking out in laughter. Luke and Ashton turn to him confused.

"Is this your way of introducing your new girlfriend to us, Mike. We've been friends for forever just say it the way it is," he manages to get out through gasps.

"Oh God no,' I feel my face blush as if I were five and some attractive waiter told me to have a good day,' we are just friends. We only meet this morning, the only reason I'm sitting is because my friend got sick and had to go home." Realizing as soon as i said it, it came out wrong. "Oh, that wasn't suppose to come out that way. Michael here invited me to eat with you guys."

I wish I could disapear. I contemplated getting up and walking home and never coming to school again but decided against it. Michael leans in close to my ear, to where only I can hear him.

"Hey it's okay calm down," he whispers soothingly. I take a deep breath and nod.

They begin talking about how Jane, the most popular girl in the school, is a complete tool. I look up at Luke. He hasn't said a word since i sat down but I have felt his presence. He laughs and his eyes crinkle around the corner. When he laughs, he laughs with his whole body. I soon get lost in his deep blue eyes. I have liked him since 8th grade. Here I am, a Sophmore, two years later, and still completely intringed by him. He is so out of my limit in every way. A sharp pain appears in my arm. I turn to see Michael elbowed me.

"What do you think, Luna?" he asks.

"Think about what?", I say embarrassed that I zoned out and started day dreaming about Luke when he was right in front of me.

Michael giggles. "Do you think that Jane is a complete tool?" He says.

"I try not to pay attention to her or get in other people's drama much," I shrug the question off.

"C'mon you must have some sort of opinion of her tooliness," Luke says and looks me in the eye. My heart starts racing a million miles an hour.

"Well, I mean,' I clear my throat," she is a pretty open book. She's always flirts with every single guy she comes across. She even still wears UGG boots, like who even wears those anymore. So, I guess on a tool scale from one to ten, I'd say she's about an eight and a half." I say, half ranting and half trying not to rant.

All four of them start laughing so loud that half the lunch room starts to look at us.

"You know Luna,' Ashton says with a smile plastered on his face,' you're going to fit in just fine with us."

"YOU ATE LUNCH WITH THEM!!! OH MY GOD LUNA THIS IS HUGE!!" Eliza screams through my phone, busting my ear drum.

"Yes Eliza and I thought i was going to explode too. It was so... I don't even know. It was amazing and cool. Calum and Ashton are really cool. It turns out they all like All Time Low."

"It's about time someone other than us likes them. I am tired of our school being uncultured swine."

I start laughing and so does Eliza. I laugh so hard I almost cry. This is why I'm friends with her, she never fails to make me feel ten times better. I hear my Dad yell at me from the kitchen that dinner is done.

"I gotta eat dinner now but I'll call you later, Eliza. Bye."

I wait for her so say goodbye back and then I plug in my phone and walk out of my room into the hallway. Once i get to the kitchen, the smell of beef stroganoff washes over me. I pile some on my plate and sit at the table with Dad and Levi.

"How did your day go sweat pea?" Dad asks me.

"Good," I reply back, sparing him my anxiety and my mushy gushy feelings.

"That's great dear. What about yours Levi?"

"It was great. Danny and Nick starting playing CSGO and now I have someone to talk to about it," he says nearly bouncing off his chair with excitement.

"Good. I have a coworker coming over tomorrow night for dinner and talk about launching a new idea. His name is Andrew and he has a son around your age Luna. Try to be on your best behavior and have the house clean when i get home form work tomorrow."

He finishes his plate and puts it into the sink and walks to the kitchen door that connects to the hallway.

"Goodnight kids, I love you," he adds before leaving.

"Love you too Dad," Levi and I say in unison.

I turn to Levi and tell him to go to bed and that I can do the dishes. Once he's gone i start putting the dishes in the dishwasher. Who has a dad named Andrew that I know? I ask myself. I decide not t put to much thought into it and finish loading the dishwasher. Once i finished the dishes I walk back to my room and pick up my phone. I have three missed calls from a number I don't know. I decide to call it back. It rings four times before anybody picks up.

"Hello," I say trying to sound professional.

"Hey, It's Mike. This is Luna right?"

"Yes it is,' I laugh at his uncertainty,' How did you even get my number?"

"I have my ways, and your information card might have fallen out of your book bag and I got your number off of it before I put it back. Convenient right?" He says.

"Very. Well, it's almost 11 p.m I should probably go to sleep now," I say trying to get off the phone.

"Yeah I'll let you go. WAIT. Will sit with me again at lunch? The guys and I enjoyed."

"Ummm... sure. Why not? Goodnight Michael," I say.

"Goodnight Luna, and you can call Mike by the way, the rest of my friends do."

"Ok will do. Bye Mike."

I wait for him and say bye back before hanging up. I quickly text Eliza "Do you know anyone witha parent named Andrew?" still curios about my dad's coworker. She replies with a no and leaves my mind to wonder. I'll find out tomorrow night I guess.
